Mushoku Tensei III: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu

Mushing Tensei is the culmination of isekai.
It has all of the good from fantasy including dramatic fights, an interesting and well thought out world, political drama, legendary hero’s, war (history of war in this case), magic that is explained and not just present, lovable characters, and more. The animation style is incredible, the cinematic shots are amazingly tasteful, the colors are more realistic and fit for the fantasy world and the lines create a more realistic texture to the world and characters.

On the romance side it obviously has multiple points here that everyone has opinions on but I’d like to add that this show, ... simply put, is about a guy who had a horrible past life which made him a downright awful person and this new life is giving him the opportunity to reflect and change. Yes he’s horny, yes there’s “questionable” interactions but Rudy is changing, that’s the story. There are multiple things positive and negative that could be said about his “actual” age but I’ll say that him being older is important because he has a past life to reflect on. If he was isekai’d at age 15 he hasn’t made enough choices in life to regret or truly change because he hasn’t truly become his whole self yet. Being older in this instance is a choice made by the author intentionally. Additionally, in great movies and tv there are characters who do bad things! Walter White is a bad guy?! It’s literally called “breaking bad”. In Saving Private Ryan they kill people?! They’re literally soldiers. In Mushoku Tensei he’s bad with girls and is overly sexualized?! He literally a shut in NEET with uncountable issues created by his terrible and gross past lifestyle. In other isekai anime deplorable action is done for the sake of deplorable action or shock value bc that’s idk something anime does. But in Mushoku Tensei he takes everything that happens to him (and that he does) and changes because this is a story of his life. It takes the generic anime protag of nobody-kun and flips it on its head and says “what if he made the shut in otaku NEET face his past life, his awful lifestyle, and his past mistakes in honest without sugar coating it? What if we took the trope and turned it into something interesting, something people would talk about?

There’s a lot going into this story and the author actually has something to say. It’s a story written with intent and hats off the author and studio that are taking the risk in sharing this story. If you like anime that wants to share a message and you get to read between the lines to learn from it, then this is for you.

Mushoku Tensei is an anime brought to life by people who love the original LN and dedicated a whole studio to the process of doing so. If you want a well rounded, incredibly animated, well thought out story with a real person as a character this show, that is the culmination of isekai then this is for you!

If you want to turn your brain off and live in a blissful reality where nothing bad happens and people are always make the right choices then watch Blue Box or Tomako Market. Both decent anime, just with more traditional 2D (literally and figuratively) characters.

It’s very frustrating to watch every season of mt because of how much I dislike this main character. This time, season 3 started to become less troublesome than what I had expected.

To start off, the first 2 episodes focus on Eris. It's great to see her story the fact that we haven’t seen her for a while since she didn’t appear in both parts of the previous season. That is a short way of keeping us an update on her, the story for the first 2 episodes mainly talks about her growth and yeah I can see she is trying to work on getting ... stronger before seeing Rudeus again despite being a “Mad Dog”. Sadly there's not much left before shifting to Rudeus’s POV so I don’t believe we get more screen time on her until maybe later?

Now I still despise Rudeus, he is still the same as usual. I will never forget all about him being a pervert and glaze panties for all the series, it’s more taken as a habit like he would never stop, that just still shows content that I wouldn't want to see. But then again, I do want to say something good about him for once. As he continues to grow, your main character becomes a little more mature and less disgusting than before. Look at him, you could say this is a life where Rudeus is living a slice of life where he gets satisfied with getting what he wants to have. He gets a big house, he married two wifes which is annoying but I’ll take that as an exception, he builds a big family, he continues to learn new magics, and he gets a good reputation for everyone respecting him. Of course he is happy with all that, but I would be afraid if those wouldn’t last forever, it could be leading to something worse later so who knows.

I know Mushoku Tensei is not a good show and I should’ve dropped this series from before but I like giving them a chance, at least this season 3 isn’t gonna to piss me off like the older ones before. It does have a few things I can go for from this bit of slice of life, overall a calm & peaceful start.

I absolutely loved Season 1 of this anime. The world-building, characters, atmosphere, and story made it feel like one of the few isekai that genuinely stood out, alongside Re:Zero, The TBATE WN, and Konosuba. Even though there were some weird things that bothered me, I pushed through because I was invested in where the story was going.

Unfortunately, everything after Season 1 has been a massive downgrade for me.

Season 2 was painfully slow, especially the academy arc, and the whole Sylphie storyline felt dragged out, and felt like the biggest male fantasy for losers. The only part that really hooked me again was the parents episode. ... Season 3 started off promising but quickly fell back into the same problems. The pacing is ridiculously slow, and even the Turning Point felt underwhelming after taking so long to reach.

My biggest problem is Rudeus. He's always been a disgusting character, but instead of the story genuinely challenging his behavior, it often feels like it's rewarding and indulging him. His multiple wives, harem elements, and excessive sexualization, make the series feel more like a male fantasy with a whole lot of bs. I feel like a loser watching this at times and embarrassed

It's especially frustrating because the world itself is still genuinely interesting, yet so much of it gets pushed aside for Rudeus's personal and romantic life.

Season 1 felt like the beginning of an incredible fantasy story. Now it feels like another slow-paced isekai harem. It's honestly disappointing because I still think there's a great anime buried underneath all of this, but I really hate the direction it's taken.
