Okay, Sasaki freaking out about every little thing is starting to get annoying. I get that he's insecure and jumpy, but he needs to figure out how to relax already. This unnecessary overreaction even extends to his explanation for why he started smoking. His reasoning is entirely normal, mundane even, but I'm guessing he figured that Tayama would (rightly) tease him for being a pushover. Honestly, I'm still shocked that his medical results from before came back as rosy as they did.

| Alright are we a 40 year old man or a 12 year old boy who still gets awkward accidentally touching a "girl he kinda likes" hand? Supposed to be an adult romance but we are getting a little juvenile here. Adults can feel nervous and awkward but that was a little much lol. |

| Ok, I'm enjoying this a lot, I think both of them are really cute (although I agree Sasaki gets a little too "teen boy" sometimes), but there's something that it's bothering me. I know that the whole thing about "Sasaki doesn't know Yamada and Tayama are the same cause he's slow" is played for laughs but how is that Yamada doesn't know that the guy from the past is Sasaki himself?? Unless you're telling me that Sasaki stopped going to the store for a long period of time so that when he came back Yamada didn't recognize him, it just doesn't make sense to me. |

| THIS QUIET ROMANCE HAS NEVER FELT MORE BEAUTIFUL. I loved this episode. Every small gesture gave Sasaki and Tayama’s growing closeness more weight. REVIEW: Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Episode 8 | 8.7/10 ⭐ What moved me most happens in the rain. The typhoon pushes Sasaki and Tayama to sit side by side instead of in their usual spots, and their conversation about smoking slowly becomes personal. The episode never forces them closer. Their hesitations and lingering looks reveal what neither of them knows how to say yet. I loved feeling the distance between them disappear so naturally. The ashtray had already brought them closer in the same quiet way. Sasaki finds it, cleans it and tries to make his effort sound like chance, but the dirt on his sleeve gives him away. Tayama understands without making him explain himself. That small object becomes a stronger sign of care than anything he could have said because both of them are still protecting what they feel. The most beautiful moment comes when Tayama talks about the man who, eight years earlier, helped her realize how much her job mattered to her. Sasaki refuses to dismiss the memory as a whim and recognizes it as admiration. His words, their awkwardness after their hands touch and Tayama’s final thought connect that old memory to the man sitting beside her now. | I think if the wind hadn’t knocked down the screen one or both of them might have worked it out. Slowsaki could have easily mentioned he regularly smoked out front or Tayama could have mentioned more details about that problem customer and triggered Sasaki’s memory. Still, I’m glad the story is actually revisiting that event, I wasn’t sure if it was just a bit of background that wouldn’t be referenced again. |
