'Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei' Part 2 in Production

The official website of the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School) anime series announced on Friday that a second part is in production, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

Madhouse produced the first anime season adapting Tsutomu Satou's action sci-fi light novel debuted in 26 episodes in Spring 2014. The Hoshi wo Yobu Shoujo (The Girl Who Summons The Stars) anime movie by 8bit opened in Japan in June 2017.

The Raihousha-hen (Visitor Arc) television anime aired in Fall 2020, followed by the Tsuioku-hen (Reminiscence Arc) prequel special in December 2021.

The third season premiered in 13 episodes in Spring 2024, followed by the Yotsuba Keishou-hen (Yotsuba Succession Arc) sequel movie on May 8.

A television anime adaptation of Satou and Yu Mori's Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei (The Honor at Magic High School) spin-off manga by animation studio Connect aired in Summer 2021.

Satou originally published the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2008. Kadokawa began releasing the title under its Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Kana Ishida in July 2011 and published the 32nd and final volume in September 2020.

Satou launched the Magian Company sequel light novel the following month. Kadokawa shipped the 11th volume on March 10. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei has a cumulative 30 million copies of its volumes in print.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in 2015 and published the 26th volume on February 10.

well that's awesome and all, but when is the Yotsuba Succession movie going international? it is nice to see the franchise is going to keep moving forwards and they're not sitting on their hands awaiting box office returns and butts in seats numbers to greenlight the next project. but cmon now, TenSura can get two movies out and now Irregular has two movies annnd guess who moved their movies out into the rest of the world faster? yep.

@bastek66 it is probably a pre-production and planning placeholder title. Eminence in Shadow's movie didn't even have an official title, just 'next project' for over a year after it was first announced to the public.

On the one hand, I can guess why it has that title—I read the original a long time ago—but on the other hand, it might also suggest that they’ll try to adapt the remaining volumes into a single season or a two-part series.

At first i was confused why it is marketed as "Part 2" but apparently it is because the anime has reached the halfway point in terms of adapted volumes

Which is pretty insane. even after all these seasons and movies, we have only seen 50% of the story
