I don't know exactly when i'm going to start reading it since i'm kind of in the middle of various things, but i'll let you know my thoughts as i go through it if that's alright with you.
OMG. You really are a retired moderator. 🫢
Turn A's definitely worth getting to I would say, and yeah X is definitely one of the lesser-talked about Gundam entries; MS IGLOO and G-Saviour are probably the only things that have it beat in that regard.
That is very young wow, definitely sounds tragic.
I don't know if Index is worth it for Accelerator alone unless you're as crazy about him as I am^^ Oh I can totally see the 007-feel to it now that you mention it. Ah yeah, whenever I made one with fanart I always put the names in between the images.
Very true. I'm noticing a bit of a trend here; it's fine, I take ages to get to anything that isn't part of my own weird schedule these days as well.
Oh I love Ajin, well the manga at least, and with how nice the art is especially I can definitely see that being the case with the CG.
so like for this ftm prince coded character to get barely introduced and they've said approximately zero words so far but the narrator, who i still haven't actually met, has already fantasized about them probably using a strap-on in the bedroom... my eyes did roll. It was like the 'Her boobs jiggled boobily' of butch. I think in a different headspace i would have found it campy but it probably wouldn't have been a DNF.
the narrator of Too Like the Lightning was clearly their own distinct character. i feel like maybe reading on and getting a better idea of who that character is would make their voice less obnoxious?
Ahh, yeah, i do that too >< I do that to pretty much every series i pick up somewhere down the line, especially the ones i'm getting really in to.
It's definitely amongst my favourites; I think I'd need to watch them all again to have a proper answer, Victory is what I consider my favourite for now, and then Turn A, Tekketsu no Orphans, X, and 00 would be my top five I think, sort of in that order. Oh I forget where I came across it but Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku does look cool, so I'll probably watch that at some point. Oh yeah that aspect of things is so good, and Orga carrying Mikazuki around as well symbolising how he helps his friend but also ultimately is the one who lead him down this path - not that I blame Orga mind you, the situation was awful and he did the best he could. That disability thing is something I actually really like about Accelerator from Index as well. I think Fighter, the fourth opening is my favourite, but Orphans no Namida is for sure the best song from this show - it fits the tone so well. Oh that profile's really cool, really well done; I like all the art in that collage as well, I used to really like making those myself but haven't really made one with fanart for years and that was always admittedly more fun than using official art which I sometimes stick to - that's a really cool picture of Mikazuki and Orga as well^^
It could be, that's definitely the, well not quite 'conclusion' since there's the film, but a lot more of one than the first season.
Yeah, the soundtrack is great but it's not really worth watching it just for that when you could watch something else instead. Every clip I've seen of the English dub of Wing has me thinking that Hiiro sounds at least twice as old as he actually is.
So here's the thing, SEED is definitely "better" than Destiny; Destiny has a lot of flaws, but it does things, and has ideas, that I like a lot more than anything in SEED. Shinn's a pretty interesting character, I really like the Destiny Gundam thematically, and several other aspects of the show as well, but they all could have been so much better than they ended up being. I really want to watch Fafner, I need to get around to that soon; it looks really cool. Hirai did character designs for Majestic Prince as well, which I'd definitely recommend.
I know of both series, so I knew exactly what you meant and that's probably a fairly easy mix-up to make, it was just really funny given how different they are. Yeah, it's like a non-canon One Year War side story, so I can see the plot not being much worth remembering.
Certainly sounds like one yeah.
Oh I love Orphans, other Gundam shows are tragic but this one feels like an actual tragedy, and everything about Mikazuki and the Arayashiki System was fantastic; him drawing even more power out of it and the Barbatos and losing the ability to function outside of battle in exchange - they named them after demons for a reason. I also really love that one line about him forgetting that he doesn't actually have a tail.
Oh that's interesting since I'd definitely say 00 stands out a lot more than most Gundam shows.
Wing is style over substance to put it bluntly, it has too many characters and doesn't do much with any of them, so I totally understand.
I'm not huge on SEED myself, but it certainly is popular and I could certainly see myself having liked it more if I hadn't seen the original first. I don't think I see praise for Hirai's designs too often, so that's cool, and yeah Arthrun and Kira's relationship is pretty interesting. I am also one of four people who likes Destiny more^^
Thunderbolt Fantasy lmao, that is the wrong show friend. But yeah Thunderbolt, I don't think I've heard too much about that, I like the Psycho Zaku's design a whole lot though, and there's jazz as well apparently so that's something to look forward to, but I will probably read it first rather than watching it.
tbh i think i'm just really hard to satisfy when it comes to print media. I've dropped almost everything i've picked up for the past several years now. maybe i'm just looking at the wrong books
I think we all do^^ Yeah, the horror aspects are what have me interested but, yeah that's not good. It'll probably get me as well then; it doesn't take much for anime or manga to make me cry I must say.
I think all of Tomino's shows are like that, he's definitely not a director who makes the first few episodes flashy to draw people in. How was the non-UC stuff as well? Oh that's cool, cross-stitching is for making patterns if I'm not mistaken, what sort of stuff are you making at the moment if I may ask?
Good to hear, I think they're both just sort of series I've never been super sure when to get to and so I've ended up not getting around to them even though I've had interest in them for years. I don't know too much about Elfen Lied truth be told so I can't say I really understand; it's just something I probably want to read one of these days, seems neat and all even if I don't know much.
Oh how's that been going?
