Seihantai na Kimi to Boku 2nd Season

Six months have passed since the polar opposite classmates Miyu Suzuki and Yuusuke Tani started dating. Through spending time together along with their friends from school, the two have been happier than ever. As the year nears its end, the new couple plans to celebrate Christmas and the New Year together, making memories for years to come.

Meanwhile, Miyu and Yuusuke's friends Shuuji Taira and Kentarou Yamada are puzzled by their own situations. Due to his bad experiences in middle school, Taira still overthinks everything around him, especially after his classmate Shino Azuma began giving him more attention. Simultaneously, the usually energetic and outspoken Yamada finds it difficult to find the perfect time to confess his feelings to his shy schoolmate Natsumi Nishi. Despite everyone's differences, they continue enjoying their adolescence together and find their own ways to turn the winter break into a cherished memory.

Preliminary (3/13 eps)

I am absolutely flabbergasted that no one has reviewed the 2nd season yet. For me, this is the best Summer 2026 romance, and trust me, I have made my way through many romance anime of the 2020s, both heart warming and painfully cringe. Here, I am happy to report that You and I Are Polar Opposites does not disappoint! In fact it builds onto where the first season left off and shows us the developing relationship between our protagonists, Tani and Miyu without making any second of the watch time boring. The side characters also get their cute and fluffy time, while also reminding us ... that this anime wants to show us everything, from frienship and family dynamics to wholesome love.

The Music: (9/10)
The opening, much like the first season is energetic and fun. The music combined with the visuals really makes the music even more memorable. The background soundtracks and fluffy and slightly sentimental whn the need arises, while maintaining the cute and fluffly environment of love. For instance, when Tani says something heartfelt to Miyu, the background shifts to pastel colours and the background soundtrack adds to that fluffy feeling of your heart slightly skipping a beat. It is not too sappy, which I like, but it is also very cute and wholesome. For instance, I absolutely could not get into monologue extravaganza, wish fulfillment anime like A Sign of Affection due to the overtly unbelievable sappiness. (Shots fired I know lol). The music compliemts the realism mixed with a lovely, wholesome romance full of fun and communication.
Now, the ED is the best part of the music in this anime. I never skip it. It reminds me of pop rock teeange bands lol. Plus, the video paired with the ED is an absolute treat to watch. It features the characters floating in the air with earphones in their ears, which conveys the exact feeling of comfort the ending song and the whole anime give you.

The Characters: (9.5/10)
If you watched the first season, you know what the characters are like and how cute and unique they are. I love that this anime takes special care to develop and showcase the side characters too, rather than reducing them to mere stereotypes or reduced tools to advance the main romance, which anime like I Want to End This Love Game are extremely guilty of. There is really good character development of the main couple and the side characters which you will see in the anime itself ;) I also love how the main couple's family lives are also well portrayed. It feels like a warm hug.

The animation: (8.5/10)
I do love the art style and art direction in this anime but I have simply seen better so that is a high standard to beat. I do love the unique art style of the characters and just how memorable the cast is. Also yes, the animation and colour pallette is just lovely and presents a colorful, warm atmosphere.

Story: (8.5/10)
I love chill romance so it is right up my alley. It does the chill romance job without having any cliches or sappy story progression unlike The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. That is why I like the story. If you are expecting sadness, drama or a will they won't they story, this might not be for you.

Personal Enjoyment: (10/10)
I am smiling ear to ear lol.

Notes: I personally love when female characters are bubbly, independent and well written in romance anime rather than being passive or child like. That is also why I like this anime much more in comparison to certain recent overhyped shoujo romances.

Preliminary (6/13 eps)

I don't give out 10/10's easily, but this show deserves it. I can't fully describe how much I enjoy the different storylines in this anime, the second season is even better! This season focuses a lot more on the developments with the side characters. It showcases how many different personalities can get along, and they definitely focus a lot on the idea that opposites attract (duh it's in the name of the show lmao). All of the characters feel so well thought out and this show is so dang wholesome I'm left with a happy fuzzy feeling after every episode. I LOVE how they showcase ... the more negative sides of things such as a person's struggles with extreme anxiety, bullying, or insecurity. They handle hard topics with a more lighthearted tone without making it into a joke. It's SO refreshing to see all these characters with different personalities / struggles grow together as they learn new outlooks through interacting with their opposite. The art style is wonderful too and the characters are all so expressive in their own unique ways.

I didn't realize it until now, but I think I love it so much because all the interactions feel real. The dialogue never feels forced to me, I'm not cringing at awkward humor, and a character's struggles aren't hyperbolized or made into the butt of a joke. It feels like how a healthy friend group would actually interact with each other, and we just get to watch them experience their first love. I think the pacing is great too, every scene feels intentional to the story or character development AAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! GIVE ME MORE EPISODES RAHHHHHH

I want to understand what is happening in the writers' minds!
Are they trying to:
A) make a bet on how many people watching this anime will rage-drop a rom-com with a depressing storyline;
B) some other weird, twisted reason.

They made a great 1st season, then a second season that has been declining all the way to these last two episodes (9 and 10).

I don't think they understand that it's impossible to bring us back to the happy wavelength we were on before the cold water!
We will not say "Wow... that was close!" or "Oh my, what a rollercoaster of emotions!".
No... It will be more along the lines ... of "Well... another group (or person) trying to look edgy by throwing in a bunch of depressing stuff and trying to rescue the story to show what a great writer they are."

Too bad. I was enjoying this anime. Thank God there are only 3 more episodes to endure, so let's hope they will not make any more stupid decisions!
