Studio did not do anything wrong here, it has good music, artstyle and animation, it even looks beautiful at time. It is just that the world building builds up to nothing and there is less character development than in demon slayer, characters do not develop beyond the first minute of their story and the story ammounts to nothing. 99% characters die of old age offscreen from 1 episode to the other, it is pointless to form attachments with any, not that you even get chance to do that ofcourse. If this gets season 2 there will be literally just the dragon still alive unless immortality
...
potion gets introduced(they kind of did that with the mom-cat but that was not even one of the characters with potential to be interesting)
And the dragon could not be more uninteresting you will thank for every moment that he is not on the screen(which is most of the time thankfully)
Average Slice of life is 10x more exciting than this, there are also no cliffhangers or anything else to make you watch for more than 1 episode, but i have watched them all anyway just to make sure that it is not some genius author that will connect 12 unrelated storylines together and blow my mind like pulp fiction (yeah it does not happen, it is just random cats doing random cat things for eternity)
The most exciting episode is about cats growing some plants that they play with for 1 day, i believe it was episode 9 or 10.
It is mind-blowing how boring this anime is, yet I can not call it bad because the artstyle is cute, music good and animation is fine.
I do not even recommend this for hate-watchers, because there is nothing to hate in entertaining way, it is just boredom from start to the end. You will like it only if "hehe cute cats awww" is enough to capture your attention.

Animation isn't bad, and I didn't mind the outdated art style, so I wouldn't blame the studio. The real problem is the writing that I assume is based accurately on the source material that I have not read(I'm rating anime here, do not expect me to be doing manga review here). It's very simple and predictable. Problems get solved in the most obvious way, with no resistance from other characters or the world. The MC team is flat and doesn't interact in any meaningful way.
Imagine Death Note, but without the interesting character dynamics, mystery, and stakes. Situations are set up to look difficult, then get
...
resolved in the simplest way with no effort. Nothing ever goes wrong for the main character, and nobody around him acts smart. Instead of feeling clever, it just feels like everyone else exists to let him win.
As the story goes on, this keeps happening, which makes it more and more unbelievable. The main character keeps winning through luck rather than actual strategy, so there's no real tension or pay-off.
The characters don't help either. They are one dimensional. Their actions and motivations often don't make sense, and even important plot points feel forced. (Rewarding the life-long scumbags with money felt like Platinum End not Death Note and platinum end gotta be one of worst stories ever told)
Overall, the writing is weak and there isn't really anything that stands out as a positive. It's hard to find a reason to keep watching.
This is not action anime, so the writing needs to be at least little plausible and consistent, which it is not at any point.
To give you the idea of how smart the writing here is without spoilers, it is on this level"Because of butterfly wings principle if we make this butterfly flap the wings right now it will rain and make our enemy go inside, they do it, it does start raining and the enemy goes inside and stays there, now because of schrodingero neko there is 50% chance the enemy will disappear and the money will stay" They go inside, there is no enemy and they take the money and walk away winning. Yes the tactics in this story are on this level, smart only on the surface because you kind-of recognize those pop-sciency buzzwords and principles, but completely unbelievable and dependant on luck that is higher than you need to win the lottery.
So the tactics are not believable, what about the opposition(enemies)? There is character that just watches as his money is stolen in front of his nose, despite being armed and crazy. This part i guess worked better in the manga format where no one moves a lot, but in the anime it was just weird. "Oh yeah this ready to kill them guy just lets them go, ruining his whole life, despite being the most selfish person on the planet" What i would do is 1. Never introduce the fact that he is armed and ready to kill 2. Make MC push this character down when he tries to tackle MC. So he would see that MC is younger and stronger. Now it would make sense. You can not introduce crazy person that is driven to the madness by sleep deprivation, ultra-motivated to kill the MC to save his own skin, tell us he has multiple weapons. And then say "he acts like well adjusted moral person for this segment or MC will die and the story ends"
World is also ultra-convenient for the MC at every point just some examples from top of my head: Bank is closed on the exact day they need it to be closed, Police does not pursue the girl when they arrive(they were specifically called to pursue the girl) There is house right in front of the enemy with top window facing his fully glass-house that is up for rent. Just odds of this last thing being true are just none, police does not care that the MC is impersonating them 1 second after being released from the jail and he had to put the costume on INSIDE the jail so he would get life-in prison for being this stupid repeat offender, well-known impersonator and famous scammer that was on the TV is never recognized by anyone or expected to impersonate anyone at any point in the story.
The fun of these stories is not in creating world that is perfectly convenient for the MC, but to give MC challenges to overcome, there are no challenges to be found here. Lets take for example the convenient fact that the girl does not get caught by the police and jailed, if she was taken to the jail MC would need to break her free, using his disguise skills pretending to be guard, transfer, lawyer or other ideas, It would be fun. MC would also risk being jailed, so the stakes would actually be higher than at any point in the story, because the story is about few dollars not life/freedom. But MC is never in such situation, because author is just giving him all on the silver plater which is simply boring.
Now you may think that there is some contradiction because suddenly I'd welcome him using the disguise skills in jail, but I'll remind you that in the story he disguises himself as the police FOR NO FREAKING REASON, photographers already know exactly how he looks and what he did, he does not gain anything by doing it. He would not be forced to answer questions like "are you happy to be out from the jail?" there is no law to force him to speak to the media. So he risks life in prison there(if it was real life) to not have photo taken of him???
I mean this would make some-sense if they did not have his photos already, but absolutely none when they already do. He is the most famous scammer in all of Japan in the story, everyone knows his face. 11 minutes 48 second "FAMOUS GENIUS CON ARTIST TO BE RELEASED PHOTO INCLUDED"
I went back to that minute for sanity-check, indeed they have his undisguised picture for years. It was just another pointless and unbelievable part in attempt to make MC look cool, but once again it made him look silly and the world unbelievable.
In personal message I was told that interesting character shows up around episode 13, but there is no way I'll watch 10 more episodes of this to find out. I have really no reason to believe that the writing will suddenly step up from that point. Anime is supposed to be good and then get better, not to start very bad and then becoming mid later. (at the time of my review only 3 are avaible so it is months away anyway)

This anime is great and based on real life events which you can quickly realize with few working braincells, and i rate it 10/10 but it has few flaws and i will focus on those.
Virtually no fights scenes(there are many, many fights, those fights are big focus of the story but you do not get to see any of them)
Yes some of those make sense for mystery and suspense, but lets say it made sense 25% of time. Does not excuse the 75%
Also the fights we do get are pretty lame, involving characters we do not care about, and are extremely short too. And
...
even MC has his fight stolen by third party which is anti-climatic, and it is against extremely lame looking boss+does not make sense to me. I guess it was some nano-machine magic or whatever...
Repeats with no payoffs: You can see same scene 3 or more times, same sound effects, same frames, i'll keep this spoiler free and talk in generic terms: There is one scene involving huge gun about to do bang bang, you will see this scene many times, gun about to shoot someone, but you will never see it actually shooting someone. This scene would work if it ever displayed the shooting as a payoff, but it never does.
I imagine this scene actually existed at some point, but was removed to make it PG13(that is just speculation ofcourse) what makes me think that is that they added few frames where the gun is "reloading" in the final repeat and it really looks like we are about to see the cool part.
There are at least 10 such notable scenes, multi-flashbacks to the same event without additional info or value. It probably is here for people that play games on mobile phone while watching, but it sucks for people that were paying attetion to the story and do not need to see it again.
Plot-twists in this anime are pretty basic, predictable, but still good. I did not guess only one of them correctly and it was not even important one. Basically one character does not know something about themselves, and i thought that they actually know it.
Some plot-twists are revealed way too early which makes them not work. Like they basically tell or show you 99% of what has happened, and then the thing is brought again as some sort of "exciting surprise" which it is not.
Like imagine that there is a scene where woman cuts roses and then sells those roses in the shop. And it is revealed 5 episodes later that the lady is flower seller. Yeah we knew that instantly, like thanks mr.obvious. Or that someone came, stole the flowers and now the flower seller hates the thief. Yeah we can imagine... no need to remind of us of that every episode. It is all information we got in the beginning.
But overall it is great looking anime with good sound and story, i had truly just few nitpicks. I've rated worse things 10/10, so this one truly deserves it.

I know how much effort it takes to make animated movie or series, I'm artist myself making music and doing oil paintings, I also made animations and games in the past. But I will have to be honest here and I'm sorry if it hurts some of the workers on this, I'm sure that you did your best with time/budget allocated to you. I'm here to rate the result, not your effort.
This movie is so bad at everything:
0. It has 2 hours 12 minutes while skipping anything that could be enjoyable, why does not it have 1 hour but without the skips of important
...
scenes? Story board for this movie had to be terrible. And you had to stretch the budget to over 2 hours of animation, which made you skip the fight scenes completely and the pacing is a mess. Instead of 1 golden hour we got 2 dirt hours. This could be justified in some story-heavy arc but this arc is all about fighting and making MC look good there is little to no story to tell.
1. Predictable story with no plot-twists, annoying one dimensional characters that do not ever change(also known as no character development) It is impressive how in 2 hours every character we meet in first minute is the same in last minute.
2. Most important(by important i mean potentially fun) scenes are skipped, it made me think "did i get my mind wiped by men in black?" but no, they really just skip the fun scenes like for example MC killing the enemy King, or the argument in the castle. We get "Tell do not show" everywhere. Fights that are not completely skipped are still so badly done it is like if i made them myself in ms paint, in one you even see black screen because you are "blinded" bruh... None of the fights involving main characters were visible, did they even happen? We can not actually know because none of them were shown. The only fight we see are side characters at the beginning defending the city. Then we see half of second defense where MC comes in middle of it, we see him kill like 18 level1 enemies with lightning and power word kill and rest of them is shown dead on the ground with the fight missing. We are to assume that the plague dogs got them offsceen, which is really visually unimpressive but not the worst we get to see(or do not get to see) in this movie.
3. Stakes do not exist (this is plague of all overlord anime to date) Novels supposedly have dangerous pvp characters, but none of the series or movies presented danger to the MC at any point. In this movie all enemies are level 1 with main enemy being like 80level which is 5.4 trillion power levels under MC's summons and it can not damage MC even if he wears no armor. There is also obvious spoiler to this making it even worse, i will not type it but it is not much of spoiler even if i did, because it is so obvious, especially if you watched or read anything from overlord universe before watching this.
4. Story is extremely anticlimactic, lets ignore that there was no effort to make at least one cool fight and the 3d cg was 2012 anime lower budget series level at best... the whole story itself is about MC making himself look good and fooling little innocent girl in to worshipping him.(This makes MC unlikable at every level in this movie) This is the whole story, there is no other actual plot in this movie. He fools little girl in to liking him, she in turn leads cult worshipping him. And people shout stuff like "Hurray you are so great just and powerful beautiful innocent genius chess master cute..." I really hope that the author does not consider it to be self-insert, because this is so lame it made me sigh and roll my eyes multiple times.
5. Sounds effects and music. The music is ok, it is not the worst thing i've ever heard just a bit generic and safe, so it will not offend anyone's ears but also is not memorable. But the sounds effects are so very unimpressive especially when this is supposed to be movie, many series like fate from ufotable had better ones even back in 2011 and even comedy animes like eminence in the shadow have many times better sound design and those are not even movies. Fate movies have just infinitely better sound design and animation and i can forgive the animation because it might be budget issue, sound is cheap tho and even amateurs from fiverr would do it better. Now do not get me wrong, it was not like 1/10 kind of deal, more of 3 or 4/10. Sound is my expertise and again I mean no offense to the workers, I assume the director had no vision for it.
I like to say at least one nice thing about things I did not enjoy, in this movie it was the princess scenes that were few but cute and likeable. I'm big ryona fan. And I also really liked the design of Baraja Neia, she was supposed to be creepy but i think it ended up looking really cute and I also liked how the look was connected to her ancestor and her abilities too.
Final words: I'm not biggest fan of overlord series in the world but they were much more fun to watch than this. They share many problems with this movie and have some additional ones but they actually were not ever this anticlimatic. We see MC duel the dude in season 2, we see MC in the arena fights fighting in season 4, we see him attack city in season 3, we see him to pretend to be adventurer in season 1... In this movie we do not see much at all, and story holds no interest because there are no twists no turns no cliffhangers no stakes, no character growth...

I'm always quite nice in my ratings, you can see some 6/10 series in my profile rated as 10/10 but this anime is quite something. It is hard to find something positive to say when it has less frames(drawings per second) than the webtoon(comics) version.
And I really wish that "muh animation bad" was all that is wrong here, this anime is based on the web comics version not the novels, and it does not even do justice to the already simplified comics version so any of the emotional moments do not hit at all, and the flashbacks make you feel weird about the MC instead
...
of curious.
Now is the moment where I'd tell you to go read the web comic version, but I bring you some bad news: the web comic version has issues with the releases, it may never finish because of the constant hiatuses that are there because it moves from art studio to art studio, from my understanding purely because the company wanted to save few pennies. So from god-tier artist with thousands of pages of experience with this story it went to random new people and from those to other random new people.
That means the novel version is the only version worth investing your time in to, so you better buy e-ink display :^D

I decided to watch all the most popular anime series and movies from all years, this being one of most disappointing ones on the list.
First the good: Some characters actually die here, in many anime goodie shoes protagonist will let even Demon Lord of Universal Destruction and Ultimate Torture live for no reason, and ofcourse it will return and kill lots of innocent no-name characters and it makes me cringe. First episode of 30% of isekais is rapist bandits that killed lots of people and are about to r/kill some cute girl getting tied with rope to the tree by MC and leaving them there
...
or they just run away scared and MC lets them. Ofcourse as a viewer i do not assume that they will then go and find honest job and help the local charity, they will do the same stuff the very next day maybe in town that is 10km away from OP MC with his cheat skill and harem... well back to review
It is very impressive that this is the only upside of this whole anime. Even the deaths themselves mean nothing because there is as close to no character development as is possible. 2minutes long flashback scene if there is at least that much just is not enough to build any kind of emotional connection.
And outside of few flashbacks. characters are presented as your generic tsundere, kuudere, dandere, bakarede, deredere... it is literally all of them and they never show any other side to them. They do not even present these personality cliches well, there just is not single scene where you could be like "oh this is sweet"
All characters will also change by 0% from their initial introduction to the very end, they learn nothing new not even attacks, their opinions never change. There are even many scenes that show you how set-in stone mind of every character is, even if presented by alternatives that make lots of sense for their motivation.
I even found myself rooting for the enemy team(that loses only because of thickest plot armor ever made, superman/seitama and goku combined would not stand a chance if they were villains in this show.)
And you would see them get beat by the lamest characters that you can imagine. Clumsy girl with big scissors and panda picture on them. All pink girl with gun powered by emotions making her power impossible to quantify and only make you wonder how did they not win yet with this long range instant kill more than nuclear level power against bunch of dudes with swords. They are assassins leading the resistance against the tyrannical monarchy but they can not figure out that killing the enemy leadership would be kinda uh useful?
Generic straight haired girl with katana that you will mistake for like 20 different background characters. Boy with strings, imagine the Walter C. Dornez from Hellsing but take away all things that make him cool. Gay dude with spear and mecha armor, he is actually gay in the story and somehow still more cool than the other characters. Eye-patch lady with her power being summoning male maid that can cook really well. Girl that has claws that exists only to have big booba under-dressed character in the story.
Why i say plot armor? Well villains will actually beat the MC team, mc team is sitting there half dead in the hole and every time villains decide at that point to either leave them and get killed from behind because they never finish the MC team or start the 5 minutes long monologue or tickle the MC team or even patch wounds of enemy team and get killed while patching the wounds. They will even capture the MC so he can escape episode later, instead of killing him.
Not enough? How about this, most powerful villain can stop time and just stab anyone in the neck to instantly win or cast any of her bazillion cold-spells. So how does the villain use this unbeatable power? Stop time and then attack summoned golem. There is literally the Summoner of that golem right next to the villain. The summon will ofcourse not even die from this because of powerups from summoner.
But sure this can not be the only instance where this OP power is used right? Well, it basically is. Alright it is used ONE more time but not to kill anyone. So villain fights someone that has instant kill weapon, yes we are talking 100/100 danger level enemy. Villain gets her limbs cut out and only then decides to use the time freeze but is so damn stupid that she attacks "after image" that is somehow her bloodlust incarnate or whatever plotarmor nonsense. It is basically copy of the enemy that does not exist and we are never shown this power ever before. It almost makes me think that the author had no idea how to beat time-stopping villain so he came up with this nonsense. So 1. Villain uses it way too late in the fight after taking fatal-level of damage while this power is perfect fight opening move 2. Uses it to attack shadow clone 3. Does not look around after finding out it is fake to see the attack coming(something trivial to do while the enemy is fking frozen moving at 0% speed) I'd also argue the shadow clone should not exist or it should be solid after time freeze. Shadow clone to be soft like air makes 0 sense when frozen. This would actually even make the fight make sense imagine Villain stabbing the solid clone thinking it is killing the enemy, while the real enemy attacks from behind. There i fixed the plotarmor fight to be like 100x better in 1 minute of thinking.
Also this villain can instantly destroy MC and 10000000soldiers with her other spells. MC is actually reduced to molecules in instant by this villain spells. And yes this villain also does this to whole army.
But somehow these powers just do not work on the katana girl because... because uh she carries heavy burden of her emotional past or something???? Also all the fights are visually uninspired. The only slightly visually cool fight happens on boat against side-villain.
So characters writing gets no points, fights get "ok my eyes did not bleed but all fights were stupid aka 5/10" points, overall world building gets 6/10 You get some slight sense of this place being world with cities, tribes and people that are connected to each other a little.
But I did not get to the really bad part yet: Character dialogue. Even the otome game anime have better dialogues and those have just generic NPC one liners like "MC is so cool" "I love MC" "MC looks cute today" "Hi MC"
But even that it is better than the stuff in this anime. MC does say stuff like "I will do this training arc to level up"
his enemies say things like "I will kill you MC to gain experience points" "This is ultra-rare tier drop legendary weapon"
"this armor is made from S tier beast feathers"
I did not know that this is MMORPG isekai, but it has to be. Maybe source material explains it, but this anime does not. We are presented with village boy saving his village from starvation and going to the big city to earn big bucks... But ALL the dialogue about world building, skills, items... is about some generic MMORPG.
I'm just mindblown by this, it is big part of why I feel nothing when characters die here, they are all presented as generic NPCS saying generic NPC stuff.
And the villains we are rooting against are helpful townguards that help you find lost companions and punish thieves. Yes the most hated villain by the community in this whole story is town guard that helps MC and punishes criminals and only criminals.
So list of "bad" things this villain does:
>Kills wanted assassin (I'll remind you that assassin means murderer) that killed her best friend.
>Punishes 3 thieves
That is it, in 24 episodes that is all the bad stuff villain does. While the "Good guys" just murder tens to hundreds of people.
And what horrible thing did the most powerful villain do? Fight enemies army against army like we do in real life every single day for at least last 10000years to re/conquer land and kills dangerous beasts. It is just your average army general. We see her kick prisoner in the face once and that is far as her cruelty went. She even lets prisoners go free multiple times. She is very nice to people otherwise, her team is actually nicer to each other than the MC team... She is even nice to MC from beginning to the end even after she finds out it is enemy!!!
So those are main "villains" then we got the "king/emperor" that is just little kid getting manipulared by his uncle that we are told is bad but never shown.
And after the uncle is dead there is no reason to kill the little kid right, they do. Bruh moment, i do not remember villains doing anything this cruel ever.
And I remembered another thing, the technology. This is 12. and 25. century at once. You get people in rayban sunglasses and suits with laser guns, rocket launcher and then you get people in knight armors, with bows and cities that would not impress Ancient Roman Empire.
There just is not one thing that I could really praise because it is mess, early chat gpt tier of nonsense writing.

Rimuru was really cute here, but story is really dragging it down. Especially the ending where asspull after asspull happens and yes i do mean even more of them than is normal for anime and it is like next tier of asspulling that does say "no asspulling will be asspulled" and then asspulling happens and helps in asspulled ways. Sad moments ended up being completely comical because of this. I ended up giggling when another tragic thing happened knowing what is going to happen next. And the power scaling made it really weird and unbelievable, so the ubergod rimuru in this movie can eat
...
sun, summon and command equivalent of god, teleport army but at the same time can not walk faster than me (and i'm not walking champion) or catch up to normal railcart. We are talking about character that uses teleport every few minutes in the series(and here too) can fly faster than u can see and stuff like that. I do not know if he is meant to be portrayed as the actual villain in this story that watches suffering for fun, but it gave away that exact impression. You know those animes where there is god-tier character that can wink to destroy moon and fart to recreate universe (highschool misfits) that hide their powers to stay anonymous. Well this was much like it, except there is just no motivation behind hiding his powers, only plot convience after plot convience. He does reveal his power level twice and even tells people that he is demon lord now, so truly that has nothing to do with it. There was not even attempt at something like "uh oh the teleportation magic really drained me, i lost 99.999% of my power and now i reach maximum speed of crawling grandma" Or "uh oh he has kryptonite" even something as old as superman at least tried to pull out some explanation behind those events. This story did not even try to make any sense.
This next point is not super important but does tie in with the power-level indecisiveness and plot convience:
Rimuru also has those full heal potions in this movie he is holding them in his hand at one point, but for some reason gives people honey instead that barely recovers them after 2 months of eating it, but i could at least make up some explanation for that, for example that honey is antidote that also slowly heals and ehm for some reason antidote+full heal would cause negative effects. Which makes no sense but lets just say that is magic. But in fact that was the case just so some scenes can happen at all. Which has the simplest solution: do not show the full heal potions in the movie, the potion did not even get used so showing it was not needed for story. Lets say that you get poisoned in game, full heal potion heals u to 100% but you are still poisoned, and that is fine but it DOES heal you to 100% first. So healing quickly instead of slowly would not change the plotdevice that was used to cause this situation. It just made rimuru look like villain again, offering just the bare minimum to help people which is theme of this whole story.
If i was to bring up what he can do in the anime series or manga, i'd spend next 3 days writing this review. You can isolate this movie as its own thing and use only what is in it and it still makes 0 internal sense and offers no explanation for anything.
It was still really cute and entertaining if you are willing to turn off your brain completely, so I leave it with rating of 7. Sound was good, animation was good, rimuru was cute and i really like rimuru and rimuru was quite cute.

I could not understand how can so good looking anime score only 6 points, but now after watching it, it became completely clear to me.
You could make story that makes less sense with worse development and less likeable characters that never make any sense only if you hired ex-twitter workers and asked them to write their biography. To invest 11 from 12 episodes in to the worst character this series has (girl of cold powers that never makes anything likeable but people unreasonably risk life for her and everyone says nice things about her for no reason) For example she will say" You
...
suck and i hope you die" and then character will say "What she meant is that she loves you and wants to marry you" bullcrap! And she never even talks to people that reinterpret her shit as the nicest thing ever. It is total stranger for them but universally everyone likes her, even catgirl that is hated by her for being catgirl(literally racism) does say nice things about her and risks her life for her...
I give it 4 points for nice art and fine music. But for story and characters it would get 1/10

Just finished this one, and It is been a while for something to give me such mixed feelings. I want to call it great, it had all the themes you'd need for it, it even had fine music and art. But it was executed quite poorly storywise and it feels fake. Sure, all anime is "fake" as in fiction, but this had unbelievable characters and no internal consistency. Each character is like "I m max and i only shout NO" one dimensional af.
The only character that ends up anywhere close to believable is side character that is|| your average cool guy with katana||
I'd
...
recommend it for it is short watch (less than 2 hours) but gosh

This is show that I really wanted to love, because I liked the cute MC and his white haired girlfriend. First few episodes were actually really fun and would get higher rating from me. It has ok magic system that depends on how well spoken you are, lets call it charisma based magic i guess, something known to DnD fans. MC's magic is used rarely and most often for very boring stuff in actual fights: "make me faster aka accelerate"
meanwhile he is estabilished as spellcaster god that actually fought god and won, kills dragon few days later and few days after that struggles vs lowest
...
level monsters while being stronger than in the god fight because he has god's protection at that point. So power levels are not the reason to watch this. MC is basically weak pleb that could be killed by baby even in full group of support whenerever they want and strong solo god killer whenever they want.
But that is nitpick that could be said about almost if not all isekai stories... It does not affect my rating. What affects my rating is the shallow, horrible character writing after the "family" episodes where MC leaves them for great adventure, that is all about "tell do not show" If this was audibook it would work i guess but it is not. And every discussion is so NPC like. "Well hello there traveler" "Hello there mister vendor" "I was attacked by beast" "I see mister vendor, how many and where to kill" "Forest of newbies bring me 10 wolf pelts" this is how every talk feels like. Especially last episode was like reading something from someone that never had talked to real human before but only played the cheapest indie mmorpgames.
If this was made in superhero cartoon style by american studio i'd be honestly rating it 3/10 at best. But I'm target audience for cute girly anime characters so I'll leave it with 7/10 i rate anime based on the season it was in mostly and that helps this one a lot because there were only few better shows in this season to name few: Assassin aristocrat, Ousama Ranking, Kaizoku Oujo(mostly because of art), World Trigger, Mushoku Tensei. And yeah i'd recommend any of those to anyone over this one but it was still more enjoyable than bad, so i'd say give it a go and see for yourself.
