First off, I'm not a huge fan of the typical "power fantasy" isekai/fantasy, so I don't believe that my review is overly positive just by that preference. This show plays it in a way however that makes me enjoy it nonetheless.
The MC does not show his powers off, like some reviews say. He uses them, yes, but he at least tries to take care to either do it in a way that is not too over the top, or subtle enough to not stand out (well, except for a few occasions...). That doesn't always work out, but it adds to the enjoyability. Also, the reason

WHY he is so overpowered is actually believable and logical.
When he lets loose, it's against opponents we want to see fall. It's pretty much black and white, and those who get the full force of his powers deserve it. It feels incredibly satisfying that he doesn't say shit like "behave from now on" and every bad guy grovels at his feet swearing to better themselves. There are hard consequences and nobody is let off the hook just because the MC is so nice.
Granted, the first three episodes don't present much in terms of an overarching plot (more like mini-plots to establish the setting), but with the foreshadowing happening in episode 4, I'm looking forward to the next eps.
So far it is a solid fantasy show with a likable MC and a mom that will likely feature in many a doujinshi ;)

This show has several problems:
Story: 3
The story moves too damn fast! In episode 1 we get to a point where other romcoms would not arrive until half a season in. Events that would normally evolve over 2 or 3 episodes start and get resolved in far less than one single episode. The story has no room to breathe, everything feels rushed and "let's get over with it".
Art: 5
Kinda meh. The bare minimum required to not stand out in a negative way.
Sound: 5
Unremarkable. Basic ambient music.

Not gonna lie, the designs of the girls are cute and fit their personalities. The cast is fine and I would like to have seen them in a show with better plot.
Enjoyment: 5
I was pretty invested in the love triangle at first, but now that more and more girls enter the harem, I'm losing interest. What IS even the plot? The MC returning to show business? I couldn't care less about that.
Overall: 4
I kept watching it just hoping all of this rushed story would make sense. It didn't. It's rare for me to drop a show that I have watched that far in (hell, I even finished "Kamisama ni Natta Hi"), but this show has lost all favors it initially had.

This anime starts out with a very interesting premise that it soon forgets.
Resident school beauty Hori finds out that the gloomy Miyamura from her class has several piercings and badass tattoos and is overall a pretty decent and nice guy. They become friends and soon more than that. Add other class- and schoolmates who have the hots for each other, but never for the one who has the hots for them.
Sounds like a fine premise? Right. Except that the main premise is never again spoken of and the other characters all only get mini arcs, after which their issue is resolved. Or not. But it's
...
done with, queue next mini arc.
Don't get me wrong. I liked the show, and I liked all of the characters to varying degrees. But it's quite uneventful and a slice of life in the most basic sense. There is almost no conflict beyond someone longing for somebody's love, brooding over it and accepting that it won't happen. It strikes me as a little too realistic, in the sense that we probably all experienced something similar in school or witnessed someone experiencing it, but it does not make for an interesting story. At most, it's a short character study of how this character copes with it.
As I already said, the main premise is quickly abandoned in favor of random scenes from their everyday life, with no real plot. There is still the main focus on Hori and Miyamura, but it fails to provide a coherent story. We just get to observe highschoolers sorting out their feelings for each other.
I just read something in another review that describes my feelings about what this show is in summary pretty well: Get a cup of coffee and watch it on a Sunday morning, don't expect anything you have to think about. It starts great, it continues okay. I wish it had stayed as strong as it opened.

Conclusion first:
It's a story about someone made a monster by even worse monsters and giving them a taste of their own medicine. You find yourself contemplating if they deserve that much. It makes you question your sense of justice either way. It makes you uncomfortable. I suggest you watch it even if the hype puts you off. If you can stomach the first few episodes, it's worth your time.
I can see how a lot of people are deterred by ep 1 and probably the next few ones, too. The uncensored version is really just a hentai (of the non-consensual kind) with decent plot. But while
...
in a hentai, the plot is used to lead us from H-scene to H-scene, the H-scenes in Redo are what makes the plot take place. Nothing of all this would have happened if certain people of power weren't degenerated beasts and predators. The sex doesn't happen because the plot wills it, but the other way around.
The show has surprisingly high production value. The character designs are interesting and I, who has notoriously a hard time remembering side characters, found myself recognizing them on the spot. A disturbing part of their characterization ist that you get to understand why they are the monsters they are. Not some dark past that lead them to be evil, but their disturbed psyche that justifies to themselves what they are doing.
Why did I rate "enjoyment" so low then? Because it's disturbing. While you never see anything that would have to be pixelated, you know exactly what is going on, and it's stuff you never want to experience and that even talking about should make you feel uncomfortable. But that's the point of the show. It isn't meant to make you comfortable. It's there to push boundaries, make you question your morality, to stir up emotions, mostly bad ones. All the more satisfying is it to see the "bad guys" get it back, only to instantly ask yourself whether their punishment was justified.
This show is one quote made into an anime:
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
It's not a masterpiece, but it's not the piece of trash some people make it out to be. Making people hate it with a passion is an achievement in itself. Really bad shows are looked at and forgotten. A show that so many reviewers hate on has to have something going on.
