As someone who absolutely adores Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo and harbored a massive crush on Mashiro Shiina long before I knew wtf a "waifu" even meant, this anime feels like a massive blast from the past
It is basically the same dish served with a completely different flavor profile
The bulk of the narrative revolves around Itsuki interacting with Hinako, along with his new and old friends. This dynamic inevitably leads to comedic, wholesome, or incredibly sweet aww-inducing moments. However, one thing is absolutely certain. Now, moving on to the heroine lineup,
Hinako Konohana is the primary leading lady and the one who strongly reminds me of Mashiro Shiina, which consequently brings back memories of one of my favorite rom-coms of all time. She is a girl exhibiting extreme dependency despite being a prodigy in multiple fields. Because she lacks basic life skills and struggles with simple everyday tasks, she relies heavily on our male protagonist, who takes on the exhausting role of her dedicated caregiver. Itsuki is to Hinako what Sorata is to Mashiro. This reliance serves as the catalyst for their eventual romantic development, although I would say Itsuki has it easier when dealing with her. Ultimately, Hinako is less retarded than Mashiro Shiina. In fact, I would argue that Hinako is not retarded at all. Unlike Mashiro, who is clearly depicted as having social and mental deficits, Hinako does not truly possess those issues. Most of her helpless behavior is implied to stem from severe stress and mental burnout, she's entirely capable of acting like a normal girl. Indeed, her helpless persona gets watered down rather quickly, and her romantic feelings blossom much faster than Shiina's ever did
Then we have Mirei Tennoji, who is fundamentally your quintessential wealthy ojou-sama character possessing a delicate and maidenly heart
Next is Narika Miyakojima, a heavily sheltered girl hailing from yet another affluent household and one of Itsuki's childhood friends. She suffers from crippling shyness and struggles with basic communication, isolating her from most peers. Surprisingly, despite her intense social anxiety, she is the first character shown to fall in love with our main character, making her my absolute favorite heroine
Finally, Yuri Hirano , she will physically appears in later episodes as Itsuki's classmate sharing his commoner background, making her the closest down-to-earth person to him
And there's Karen,she serves merely as a background classmate rather than a true romantic interest
Having such a diverse cast of heroines is fantastic, but it also guarantees more "harem casualties". This sharply contrasts with Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, where despite having plenty of girls, the romantic interests for the main character were essentially limited to two in a simple love triangle. In this series, nearly every heroine falls for the protagonist, and it is painfully obvious who will eventually win. Therefore, if you despise seeing your favorite girl lose, you are in for a bad time
Moving on to another aspect I dislike, Sakurasou did tackle some weighty topics, and even back then, I hated having serious elements injected into my lighthearted entertainment. Unfortunately, this anime is an even bigger offender by trying way too hard to shoehorn drama into the plot despite how phenomenal it could have been without it. They include elements like an abusive father (fuck Hinako's dad, by the way), upper-class rivalries, and elitist conflicts. I personally loathe that stuff because I want to watch a cute rom-com, not the fucking House of cards
Regarding the wealth dynamic, the show constantly hammers home how extravagantly rich the heroines are compared to Itsuki's poverty. The narrative constantly forces dialogue about how rich people live differently, how massive their mansions are, and how poor Itsuki could never compare. This inevitably leads to heavy focuses on mannerisms and high-society etiquette, which I detest seeing in my shows. I consistently cringe whenever it appears on screen, with episode 6 featuring Mirei being the most painful one to watch so far. However, if you are the type of aristocratic person who loves eating peas with a knife and fork, you will probably adore it, though the trope genuinely gets exhausting the more you watch
That being said, this anime remains incredibly fantastic in my eyes because it successfully makes me care deeply about the cast, as the interactions between Itsuki and the heroines are undeniably cute and wholesome. Nostalgia might be speaking, but seeing a protagonist who strongly resembles one of my all-time favorite characters provides extra enjoyment
I also love Itsuki's tragic background. He comes from a household where his parents were addicted to gambling and incredibly neglectful, so I have no doubt that some of my SEA bros can heavily relate to his struggles. What happens to him in this story is essentially a middle-class wet dream. I am not talking about getting surrounded by pretty girls or taking baths with them, but rather the part where he lands a lucrative job at sixteen right after being left to die alone. He gets paid 20,000 yen a day (which he can get even more had his ass is as greedy as me) with spectacular extra benefits, receives full funding for his education, and builds heavy connections with wealthy elites he can easily suck off of, all just to take care of a girl. I do not even come from a rough upbringing, but that shit still had me creaming my pants
Lastly, the opening theme song is one of the most fun tracks to listen to,its like a flavor bomb, the more you chew, the more tastes you discover
Overall, it is an exceptionally great anime to watch for people who are accustomed to rom-coms filled with corny and over-the-top plot points, though anyone who lacks patience for those predictable tropes will absolutely despise it, so i wouldn't reccomend it to everyone

This is arguably the most average anime of the current season. Every element feels entirely derivative, and the execution relies heavily on the most predictable tropes imaginable.
What about the animation? It is neither exceptional nor terrible. It is just painfully mediocre. The soundtrack suffers from the same fate, featuring the most standard and manufactured hype tracks you have ever heard.
If you look at the character designs, I defy you to claim you have never seen a protagonist who looks exactly like this one. Even his personality is unbelievably dull. He constantly projects an attitude of apathy, acting as though he dislikes grand ambitions and simply

wants to do his own thing while simultaneously flaunting his maximum level of power. This completely disinterested demeanor drains any potential excitement from the narrative.
Even the female leads suffer from this lack of imagination. They look like highly diluted versions of characters from far better shows. I am not saying they are unattractive, but their designs are incredibly basic.
When the big reveal regarding the protagonist's past finally happens, it completely fails to land. The backstory is wildly unoriginal and painfully predictable, yet the series desperately attempts to frame it as a profound mystery. The core narrative is something you can easily find in a dozen other shows simply wearing different clothing. It relies heavily on the tired trope of a seemingly weak guy in an inferior class who is secretly overpowered.
Furthermore, the explanation for his immense strength is incredibly tedious. To summarize, he merely found a loophole in the system and spent his time grinding levels. The author puts absolutely zero effort into making this progression interesting.
Another glaring issue is the noticeably bitter tone. Almost every male character is just a different shade of awful. It is safe to assume this entire project is an authorial fantasy, with the protagonist serving as a blatant stand in for the creator. While author avatars are not inherently new or problematic, a painfully boring character needs some exaggerated elements to remain entertaining. Instead, absolutely everything about him remains aggressively dull.
This series also takes itself far too seriously. If the creators had leaned into comedy, the final product would have been a massive improvement. Instead, they insist on showing the audience just how deep and serious their overpowered protagonist's journey supposedly is.
Overall, this show is very difficult to recommend. The only justifiable reason to watch this series is if you are a newcomer to the medium and want to use it as a baseline standard to judge your next fantasy anime.

When I first watched a few episodes of this anime, the thought that lingered in my mind was what prompted Doga Kobo to say, "Yes, this is the project that I want to spend my time and money on."
I eventually figured out that this show is actually part of a massive multi-collaboration project called Project ANIMA that had been running since 2018. During this initiative, these companies accepted public story submissions and turned them into original television anime series.
Three anime came to fruition. The sci-fi winner was Sakugan, aired 2021. The fantasy winner was Mahoutsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi, aired in 2024.

Lastly, the kids and games winner was Mebius Dust, this anime
I never expected that some anime I watched years ago would somehow have a connection with this one in terms of production. Based on my memory, observations, and a recent rewatch, I can comfortably say that Mebius Dust is probably the worst of them all.
Sakugan has a decent story, great character design, and a solid premise, although the worldbuilding is weak and the final act is just meh. Mahoutsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi is basically just a less impressive version of Little Witch Academia with a pastel color aesthetic. But all in all, they still know what they want to be, and their plots are clear.
This anime is just as confused about its identity as I am.
At first, the story starts with the premise that meteors hit all over the world ten years ago, so you might think it is a post apocalyptic setting. No, it is not. The city is pretty much just a normal city with the so called meteor levitating above it. They show for a brief moment that this meteor did cause a decent amount of destruction, but they do not even instantly elaborate on it. They just leave it there as if to say, "Yeah, shit happens."
And then what is the aftermath? Some kids got powers. Yeah, that is the entire aftermath. They never focus on that aspect, and instead, they focus on the game. Like I mentioned before, Mebius Dust is supposed to be a kids and game anime. Here is the thing, though. The game itself is not clear. What exactly is the prize? Why is it a thing? What is the purpose of such a competition before Dr. Yuda comes onto the scene to tell us that he wants to run a little experiment?
Also, there is a mention that the government considers these kids with powers, or LAM, to be dangerous. They are supposedly so dangerous that their lives are monitored, and using their powers outside the competition in the city will literally get them a warning through their phones. But why the fuck do you even make a competition held in the exact same city where they can freely use their powers if you think they are so dangerous?
What happened here is basically the equivalent of William Stryker, the X-Men enemy and avid mutant hater, just saying, "You know what, round up these fucking mutants and make them compete in a football match near my domicile."
I could go on and on about this, but in short, the worldbuilding fucking sucks.
Now moving on to the powers, I have never seen a set of superpowers more random than in this anime. You literally have a guy whose power is summoning a fish fin that he can hold on to so he can glide on surface. I could be high on greens and even I would not have that idea.
Furthermore, the power distribution in this anime is a bitch. You have a guy who can get stronger and more muscular, and then there is this girl Anzu who has wings and can literally just fly and turn invisible. Olga, one of the main heroines, has hair that can be shaped into dangerous tendrils. Stella, our other heroine, can basically become a bootleg version of XLR8 from Ben 10. It is not the most original concept in the world, but it is still a useful ability.
But then we get this girl named Maria, whose power basically just makes her finger sharp. And yes, I do not mean fingers, I mean a single finger. So far from what I have seen, she can only change her pinky. HER FUCKING PINKY! This is supposed to be after she gets an upgrade too by the way and she is a member of one the strongest team. I am so confused. Who designs these superpowers?
Also, some superpowers never even get a clear explanation. Take this guy Kei, for instance. Based on what I see, his power is basically forcing people to fangirl or fanboy over him, but it is never really explained properly.
Take Haruto. His power is basically spawning multiple hands. And his role? He is a healer! Like, what the fuck? What is the correlation between those two things?
I can ramble about more things, but in short, the power system fucking sucks.
As for the story? Watching this anime feels like I just skipped one or two seasons. They simply dump everything on you, and a new episode always brings a new problem. They expect us to care about these characters in the first episode, while simultaneously not putting in the effort to actually make us care about them. Things just go whoosh. I keep saying "Huh?" along the way. I had an easier watch experience with Sonny Boy than this. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR A YOUNGER AUDIENCE! I am not exactly the target demographic, but even my brain got short-circuited by the sudden lore drops sometimes. I do not know if I am in my retard hour or if this anime is genuinely that confusing. This show needs at least 24 episodes to resolve everything they set up. While I highly doubt it will get 24 episodes, I am really, really hoping I am wrong.
Also, there are a few rumors that this anime will eventually have a dark twist. In all honesty, that would make this show even worse. Setting aside the fact that it is meant for kids, I do not think straight up plunging these characters into a depressive situation is good story development. It is uncalled for, tasteless, and genuinely a mood killer, assuming the plot has not killed your mood already.
But let's just say I watched this anime like I was a kid, not caring too much about the plot and only focusing on the game. THE GAME IS STILL FUCKING BORING! Everything feels so slow and plain. This anime should be fast-paced, yet it feels like I am watching turn-based combat. Doga Kobo is genuinely the worst pick for an anime like this.
Episode 4, where they play with balls, is probably the most tedious section of the entire anime. I YAWNED FOUR TIMES!
Now let me give this anime a bit of praise. Their music choice is decent. At least their opening is not techno-riddled rock hype music, and their ending is not puking glitter on the sheet. It is actually slow and calming music, almost mellow if I can be honest.
Regarding the characters, most of them are likable. I love Olga, I love Stella, and I love the master Shippomarimo and his whole crew. They are probably the most fun set of characters in this anime. I dare say this show would probably be better if they were the main characters.
Also, most of them are visually pleasing or at least easy on the eyes.
To be honest, though, you need to be a different breed of incompetent to make anime girls look painful to see, so I do not know if this could even be counted as praise.
Overall, boy, I do not even know. I never want to fully claim an anime is "not recommended at all," but this one is really pushing it. It is not a "so good it's bad" anime, and it is certainly not a good anime. It is just painfully boring and mediocre. I think the only people I can recommend this to are those who have already watched it and just want to see it end, like me. If not, just watch another show, man. Save your time.

Even though World Is Dancing looks pretty approachable, it’s super artsy and you really have to pay attention while watching it. Some scenes are straight up trippy, like something out of an arthouse movie.
If you aren't already into traditional Japanese performing arts, you might get bored pretty fast. Unlike other shows that throw in fun side plots so you don't need to know the culture to enjoy them, this one expects you to keep up. When it comes to the dancing, don't go in expecting flashy, high-energy idol routines. It looks amazing, but i found the dancing itself to be pretty...unimpressive. The moves are super slow and minimal, which is the exact opposite of what usually draws me to dancing in general. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, but watching the performances just left me confused and bored, kind of like when I watched ankoku butoh for the first time.
Story-wise, it takes itself really seriously, even with the cute art style. It gives off The Elusive Samurai vibes, just way less gory. Some moments honestly got me saying "woah... that's heavy". There are a lot funny bits here and there, but they're mostly just there to give you a quick breather from all the tension, not to actually act as a comedy.
Luckily, the story completely holds up on its own. Since the dancing didn't really do it for me, the plot, the character dynamics, and the insane visuals were more than enough to keep me hooked. The art is just that good. Cygames definitely knows how to flex their animation skills, and they were clearly going for a top-tier production here.
Plus, Oniyasha and his crew look... pleasent to see, to say the least and honestly that could be another reason for you to check it out, everyone like a visually appealing characters afterall.
Overall, I'm kinda torn on whether to recommend this to everyone. If you want something fast paced or easy to watch, you'll probably just find it slow and alienating. But if you're into slow-burn, artsy stuff or really love traditional Japanese culture, you'll probably get a lot out of it. Even though the main focus on choreography never really clicked with me, the awesome story and top tier visuals made it a really great watch anyway.

This anime is at its funniest when you are running on barely any sleep or just really high. Trust me.
Another thing you need to remember is to turn your brain off. You have to be as dumb as Hanaori herself. Watching this show with your logic engaged will make you absolutely despise it. Never take anything too seriously because even the characters in the world do not care that much. Every time there is a scene that looks like it will tackle serious themes, the cast will just crack a joke about it.

so I locked myself away and I do not want to be a demon king anymore."
"BWAHAHAHA, WHAT A PUSSY."
That is literally how one of the conversations goes in a nutshell.
Furthermore, every attempt at worldbuilding feels haphazardly thrown in, as if the author does not really care. It feels incredibly random, almost like a complete afterthought.
There is a scene where they just drop some lore with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. There is no hint leading up to it. It just happens, and I thought to myself that this was about to be the main conflict and plot point addressed in the very next episode. Nope. They are just cooking veggies and eating on the rooftop.
Regarding the humor, while I mentioned this anime peaks when you are exhausted or high, it remains highly entertaining even when you are completely sober. That being said, it is not for everyone. This is not some elevated comedy that creeps up on you and makes you chuckle once you finally figure it out. The gags are mostly cheap and entirely on the nose. The comedy mainly consists of slapstick visual humor, over-the-top reactions, characters acting finicky while blurting out random nonsense, and people saying shit LOUDLY.
Here is one of the jokes from the show.
"Shut the hell up, your boobs are big, give me half of em."
That is word for word, by the way.
Yeah, so if that is not your preferred brand of comedy, you can safely skip this one.
There is also a hint of yuri sprinkled throughout the story, entirely thanks to one specific character.
In this character's own words,
"This is a girls' school. The romance should be exclusive to the same gender."
Surprisingly, there really are not many scenes focusing on it. However, if you are firmly against that sort of thing for some reason, here's your cue.
Additionally, yes, this is a romcom with a heavy emphasis on the comedy. It is not even subtle about the two main characters liking, or at the very least respecting, each other. You can definitely expect a few cutesy moments.
And of course, what is a romcom without a solid amount of fanservice, right? Wrong. There is surprisingly very little fanservice in this series.
Moving on to the animation. While the character designs are not incredibly detailed, they perfectly suit the overall tone. This is definitely a massive plus since visual humor serves as a major selling point. Every single character is extremely expressive. Even our so-called "loner and NEET" Demon King displays a ton of emotion despite only having (°_°) face most of the time.
Music wise, the ending track is just okay, but the opening song is an absolute vibe. Oishi Masayoshi is simply a master at creating tracks that make you want to jump around and start breakdancing.
Overall, it is a hilarious anime. Once again, it is not meant for viewers looking for intricate worldbuilding or a straightforward plot. Some people mistakenly believe it falls into that category for some reason. Ultimately, this is just a lighthearted comedy that makes you laugh out loud and go "awww."

Moral of this anime : being honest and good at swinging your thing can make a hottie stare at you like she desperately wants to start a family together
Jokes aside, ryoumin 0-nin start no henkyou ryoushu sama is an incredibly fun and lighthearted series. It features a protagonist so powerful, gentle, compassionate, and unassuming that Superman himself would watch with a proud smile while "Starman" plays in the background.

At its core, this is a standard kingdom-building narrative with a lighter tone. In many ways, it functions as a feel-good experience where anything that can go right absolutely does, making the bulk of the episodes feel like a cozy slice of life adventure.
Furthermore, the creators have zero interest in crafting "wolf in sheep's clothing" villains. There is a legitimate in universe reason why such deceptive characters would not exist here, but even setting that aside, the narrative simply does not care about subtlety. You can easily spot the evil figures from a mile away. There are no slow-burn reveals or shocking moments where you gasp in disbelief at a betrayal. The anime straight up tells you, "Yeah, this one is a bitch lol."
During one particular scene, I fully expected a plot twist revealing a kind looking guy as a malicious surprise antagonist. Instead, Alna, our heroine, completely shuts that down and essentially confirms, "Nah, he lowkey chill, fam."
Speaking of Alna, she is probably my favorite heroine of the season. What a babe. I absolutely adore everything about her visual design and characterization. She possesses a highly cautious and abrasive attitude in the beginning, which is completely understandable. However, good god, her eventual personality switch up makes me incredibly jealous of Dias. Her mere existence is a plus point to the anime in my personal opinion.
Musically, the soundtrack offers standard fantasy fare. Nothing is particularly groundbreaking or guaranteed to give you goosebumps, but I would be lying if I said I did not enjoy listening to it.
The animation falls into a similar category, though I would argue it sits slightly above average. The fight scenes remain noticeably clunky, which is entirely expected since combat is not the primary focus of the story. Besides, the action usually just consists of Dias swinging a massive axe.
Overall, this is a very entertaining fantasy series that might feel somewhat mediocre to veteran anime watchers. However, I am confident that anyone who loves narratives centered on the concept of "kindness takes you far" and harbors a soft spot for protagonists who embody the philosophy of "be strong enough to be gentle" will discover a deep appreciation for this gem.

I genuinely think ENGI hates the author of this series, man.
First of all, they produced a first season adaptation where everyone looked like a fucking mutated goldfish.
Second of all, the light novel and manga are packed with action. Mecha combat is a prominent feature in this story, but what do we actually get? A fucking power point presentation.
I am not saying the Mobsekai story is so phenomenal that it deserves Ufotable level animation. It definitely does not. However, the studio has to know that the source material is a beloved light novel that sells millions of copies. The absolute least they could do is make

it bearable to watch, but they completely fucked it up in the first season with that atrocious art style.
Now returning to season two, they changed the eyes. The characters no longer look like someone shoved a crystal ball into their eye sockets. The few promotional visuals used for this season are actually awesome, and some of them really go hard as fuck.
And our main character, who is supposed to be an NPC, actually looks like an NPC this time instead of a severely downgraded Prince Charming. The problem? Now EVERYONE looks like a fucking NPC.
Season one might have featured abysmal art choices, but one thing is for sure, the characters were expressive. In this new season, everyone and everything is entirely flat. I mean genuinely everything. The backgrounds look like free digital assets. The characters' eyes are sometimes positioned in the wrong place, making them all look derpy as fuck.
Regarding the animation, I cannot believe they managed to slash the budget even more than they did in season one. There is literally a scene that feels like the animator just dragged a static object across the screen with a mouse and screen recorded it. Like, what the fuck?
There is also some lingering art style residue from the first season, meaning certain characters still have those goofy ass eyes. There are also flashback scenes utilizing the old art style, and the discrepancy is incredibly jarring. Imagine watching Ben 10 Omniverse and suddenly they play a flashback scene from Ben 10 Ultimate Alien. That is exactly how it feels. This time, however, both art styles are equally shitty. You get a season one flashback and think "oh, poop from the butt," and then it transitions back to season two and you think "oh, shit from the ass."
I have no idea how much of the budget they actually blew on changing the art style just for the overall quality to become this horrendous. Honestly, I think the entire animation budget went straight into the ending sequence.
If you look at that ending, it is actually decent. Everyone looks cute, and that little dancing animation is genuinely great. But it just feels like the studio is mocking us, showing us what we COULD have had. It is like we are helpless babies, and they are sucking on a lollipop right in front of us, basically saying, "Yeah, you are never getting this shit, you fucking loser."
The music is completely mid. The opening is a very standard, hyped up song riddled with techno and guitars, accompanied by basic panning character animations. Once again, the ending sequence features great visuals, but the music is just your standard cheerful track that sounds like someone puking glitter and rainbows all over the sheet music.
In terms of the story, it remains largely the same. They did not really change much, though the fanservice is strangely scarce this time around for some reason.
Overall, unless you are unfortunately the type of person who desperately has to finish what they started and you are incredibly curious about how the story progresses, I do not recommend this. You can easily drop this season and just go read the manga adaptation, or better yet, the original light novel.

Doomed yuri in the most literal sense possible.
Hot take, war is horrific.
War is grim, war is pitch black, and war is the exact place where the seven deadly sins thrive while the seven heavenly virtues die.
Every anime that incorporates war into its central theme, whether depicting a pre-war era, a post-war landscape, or especially an active conflict, is universally uncomfortable to watch. At the absolute least, it makes you feel profoundly uneasy.
This anime is no exception. Hell, it does not even attempt to be subtle about the sheer volume of casualties. The narrative literally screams, "Yo, your friend just got slimed, bro, maybe git gud
...
so you don't end up like her, lol lol" within the very first few minutes.
And what makes it worse? They are all children. Yeah, literal children being deployed to the frontlines. You think 86 is brutal? Oh, you think WorldEnd is devastating? Well, you can add another title to that utterly depressing list.
Furthermore, as if this yuri is not doomed enough, the primary relationship of the series boils down to a less thancapable soldier paired with a mass-killing machine. It is basically like Tony Stark having a sweet, romantic relationship with the Jericho missile. You just know that one of them eventually has to succumb to the carnage, or perhaps both will, who knows.
Moreover, Mimi is absolutely cute and hilarious. She is definitely intended to serve as some sort of twisted attempt at comic relief by the author. Every moment featuring her was designed to be this wholesome, "awww"-inducing scene. However, that tactic absolutely does not work on me, because the first episode already gave me such profound shell shock. Now, every adorable sequence merely feels like another fleeting memory that will hit you significantly harder when the shit goes down.
The animation is gorgeous, the soundtrack is phenomenal, and the voice acting is stellar. Everything is spectacular. The only thing that is not great is probably the viewer's plummeting mood.
Overall, this is an amazing anime in terms of both its premise and production quality. It is also an adaptation, meaning the studio actually has concrete source material to work with instead of hastily writing the plot while the show is airing, like Wonder Egg Priority.
Would I recommend it? Well, if you genuinely are that much of a cheerful person and one day you suddenly think, "You know what, please fuck up my day and completely ruin my mood," then by all means, please watch this.

A story following a cheerful disabled girl and a cynical, pessimistic guy, though calling it merely a romance would be a huge disservice to the deeper core of this anime.
Toumei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita is an incredibly emotionally charged series, to say the least. If you came here expecting lighthearted entertainment, you should probably look elsewhere. You will not find breezy fun here. Brief heartwarming moments do exist, but ultimately, this story will squeeze your heart.

almost any series featuring a piano performance will leave you feeling blue for an entire week.
As for the romance itself, it feels remarkably organic. It does not simply happen at the snap of a finger, yet surprisingly, it is not painstakingly slow either. You can see the initial sparks of romance quite early on.
Furthermore, as I mentioned earlier, labeling this show purely as a romance does it a disservice. It thoughtfully explores broader themes like human connection, navigating life with a disability, and personal growth.
The story avoids grand, soap-opera-level drama where the universe seems to hate the characters and relentless tragedy piles on them like a curse. Instead, most of the conflict stems from Kakeru's awkwardness in navigating Koharu's disability, alongside his efforts to avoid becoming overly attached or making her uncomfortable. That said, the series regularly drops heavy emotional reveals right in the middle of casual scenes that left me stunned. Some of Kakeru's inner conflicts over whether to offer help often had me thinking, "Just help her and stop monologuing, man." While that happens quite a bit, it is honestly just the natural drawback of adapting a light novel packed with heavy internal dialogue into an anime.
This brings us to another wonderful aspect of the series, which is that Kakeru is not portrayed as having a savior complex. He views Koharu as a capable adult who can manage her own life, rather than a helpless maiden in need of a prince to guide her all day long.
Koharu herself is a deeply enjoyable character. There is no endless self-pity or exaggerated drama surrounding her blindness, just a person living her life to the fullest and finding joy in every day.
My only real complaint about this adaptation is that many of the internal monologues are cut short, which sometimes makes Kakeru seem overly apathetic or distant compared to his light novel counterpart.
Overall ,i thoroughly enjoyed my time with this show, though I would call it a selective recommendation rather than a universal one. It is not something to throw on for lighthearted background noise. However, for viewers in the mood for a quiet, emotional journey that treats its characters with respect, this series is a hidden gem that deserves a spot on your watch list.

This anime offers a very traditional take on the "childhood friend to lover" romantic comedy. While some might call it borderline generic, it certainly delivers on familiar tropes. You have likely seen a heroine with almost the exact personality and appearance as Haruki before, and giving her a very standard hairstyle does not exactly help her stand out. I actually found another female character, Mitake to be much more compelling in the first episode, even though we do not learn her name until more than a halfway through episode 2,which is very rude. main character regardless.
Heck, I even found Hayato's sister to be a bit more engaging than Haruki.
That being said, it is not a bad show by any means. It just leans into being very basic and unremarkable when compared to the other romantic comedies airing this season. If you are a veteran of the genre, you will easily recognize every single conflict that arises.
The humor is relatively mild as well. The show makes a few attempts at visual comedy that neither completely fail nor wildly succeed. They are simply there. This middle of the road feeling extends to the animation and art style. Everything looks very familiar, with character designs that feel like slightly toned-down versions of those found in other popular series.
On a brighter note, the music is actually quite decent. The opening theme might not grab your attention instantly, but it is definitely a track that grows on you. I found myself genuinely enjoying it after giving it about five listens.
Another charming element is Hayato's background as a country boy. This detail gives the anime a nice little boost in appeal because we rarely get a main character who knows how to garden or gets genuinely excited about visiting a late-night convenience store.
Naturally, you can also expect a healthy dose of the classic "will they, won't they" dynamic throughout the story.
Ultimately, this is a very basic anime that does the best with what it has. While it might be an easily skippable experience that I would not necessarily recommend to either newcomers or longtime fans of romcom, it still provides a harmless and familiar watch for anyone looking for standard romantic comedy tropes.
