First of all, this anime is based on a manhwa with the same name.
The premise is that the MC gets betrayed inside a tomb (which is basically more like a dungeon) and ends up dying. Luckily, that tomb contains a special relic that can turn back time. And bring back the MC to the past (long before relics became a worldwide influence).
Because he was betrayed in his previous life, the MC carries a lot of grudges into his new life. He tends to be extremely harsh toward people who wronged him, even if they're just his coworkers.
The MC is more of an anti-hero, and sometimes
...
he's straight-up villainous. He'll do bad things simply because he feels like it or because he holds a grudge. And don't expect him to suddenly become a good person later in the story. That's just how his character is throughout the manhwa.
He doesn't have some kind of omniscient knowledge of the future either. What he mainly has is knowledge of world history, because the relics in this story are heavily based on historical figures and events. There are actually a lot of historical references throughout the story. Some are based on real history, while others are heavily modified or embellished for the story.
The relic system is also really good. There are three main ways to obtain or use relics: Domination (Force), Affection (Bond), and Compatibility (Talent).
For example, Compatibility means someone with musical talent can use a musical relic more easily, while an artist might be naturally compatible with an art-related relic.
So you can probably see where the story is going. A huge part of it revolves around the history behind these relics, which is basically connected to the history of our own world.
There are relics associated with figures like Midas, Da Vinci, Napoleon, and many others. I won't explain how they work because that would get into spoiler territory.
The art is freaking amazing. The colors and outlines are so bright and clean that it honestly feels like they just brought the manhwa straight into animation.
The Korean voice acting is perfect for me too. The character voices, ambient sounds, and even the BGM are pretty much exactly how I imagined them when I was reading the manhwa.
The fighting choreography is also really good. It's fast-paced but still easy to follow, and the relic power system makes the fights even more interesting.
I've seen some people say the story becomes repetitive at some point, but I honestly don't feel that way. Yes, the MC goes into a lot of tombs and obtains relics, but the tombs aren't just copy-pasted dungeons. Each one has different trials. Some focus on intelligence, some on affection, some on fighting, and others require completely different approaches.
The MC also meets and gains new partners along the way, and they actually play an important role in clearing certain tombs instead of just being there for decoration.
