Maybe I am the problem, but "I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class" is one of those titles that gave me a bad first impression. In my mind, this would be another one of those stereotypical love triangle romance anime that every anime season seems to spawn five of. incredibly mature. They are actually able to put their feelings into words, which, funnily enough, is something that many romance anime completely fail at. Rather than relying on endless misunderstandings to move the plot forward, the story lets the characters grow through honest conversations. On top of that, the romantic moments are fantastic. They are easily one of the biggest highlights of the show. Maki and Umi have incredible chemistry together, and their romantic moments are a five star meal for every fan of the romance genre.
Everything about the anime feels mature and grounded in reality. It even tackles very real issues such as living with separated parents and how growing up in a dysfunctional home can affect children. Maki is also surprisingly good at communicating what he wants, which feels incredibly refreshing. Sure, he is still awkward and somewhat of a loner, much like many other romance anime protagonists, but he does not stammer over every word or have an anxiety attack because of a hug. In fact, there is plenty of affection throughout the series, ranging from kisses and hugs to holding hands and all the staples a good romance anime should have. This is the kind of romance that sticks with you long after you finish watching it.
Our heroine Umi is also a wonderful character with many likeable qualities. Much like Maki, she is not afraid to communicate how she feels. The drama never feels shoehorned in and instead naturally complements the story. I feel like many romance anime fall into the trap of adding drama simply to make the story more intriguing or less predictable. More often than not, it ends up becoming frustrating instead. The dreaded misunderstanding arcs, or characters not being able to accurately communicate how they feel or what they want. I was dreading those to show up. But not here. And that is another one of this anime's biggest strengths. It lets its big moments really breathe, and the romantic developments feel earned. This feels like a complete story that could stand on its own without a sequel, even if no future seasons were ever released.
The art style and animation are pretty decent, but nothing that really stands out or deserves special praise. The same goes for the opening, ending, and soundtrack, which is ultimately why I settled on an "8." The characters are drawn nicely, and everything looks good enough to tell the story effectively. The side cast is a fun bunch, with Yuu being especially bubbly, memorable, and easily the standout among them. She shines the brightest next to our two main protagonists. But once again, the real stars of the show are Maki and Umi. Whenever love is in the air, you will probably find yourself kicking your feet. At least I did. If you are only planning to pick up one romance anime from the Spring 2026 season, make it this one. I am very confident that if you enjoy romance as a genre, this anime will be right up your alley. A wonderful experience from start to finish.

Grading it as low as I ultimately had to feels horrible, but I have to be fully honest with myself here. That was not good. Actually, it was dancing on the edge of average and dull, if I am being brutally honest. I loved the beginning, but I am not going to lie, it fell off incredibly hard, and almost nothing of note happens this season. get together early. The problem is that stability should not mean stagnation. It is really cute, do not get me wrong, but there comes a point where endless fluff and diabetes inducing romance need some kind of evolution. Some kind of next step. The characters even talk about doing more or throw in some kind of sexual innuendo, but then they just get awkward about it and drop it. Actually, the characters constantly talk in circles, and it feels like the entire season features little to no advancement for our main couple.
I understand that the show is trying to be the ultimate romance fluff, and I did enjoy that a lot at the start. But at some point, the relationship needs to evolve. No actual couple would repeat this same endless cycle for months while still acting like they are constantly walking on eggshells around each other after every kiss or intimate moment. And I am not saying this because I need the show to suddenly become explicit or turn into an ecchi series. That is not the point. My issue is that the anime keeps creating tension that naturally asks for some kind of next step, emotionally, romantically, or physically, but then it resets back to the same embarrassed routine every week. At this point, Mahiru and Amane are starting to feel less like a couple naturally growing closer and more like two characters acting out the same scene over and over again, like it is some sitcom forever stuck on a loop. I felt like I was forced to watch the same conversation every week. The same kinds of interactions between the two characters. It all starts to blend together and feel like carbon copies of the previous episodes. It feels like every episode consists of Amane saying something like he will not be able to hold himself back or making some other cheesy suggestive comment, Mahiru saying that she actually would not mind, followed by Amane telling her she should not be saying things like that before getting embarrassed. Both get embarrassed. They kiss or something similar. They say “I love you.” And that is it. Occasionally they get jealous of random side characters and wish the other would only have eyes for them. Rinse and repeat. I basically just summarized 95% of all conversations between our main leads for you.
This season completely misses the mark in my opinion. Yeah sure, they might be officially dating now, but it honestly feels like they never take a single meaningful step beyond that. More often than not, it actually feels like they are taking a step backwards. The anime tries to justify this by having Amane say that he wants to wait until he can take responsibility, mentioning things like marriage before taking the relationship any further, which completely misses the mark in my opinion. They are high school students! Why are these characters talking about marriage as if they were in their late twenties? Amane even starts working to be able to afford a ring, which just feels so odd to me. Where is the harm in just letting them be lovesick teenagers? The anime tries to portray them as far more grown up than they actually are, yet the way they communicate makes them feel more like two thirteen year olds trying to discover what love is. And ultimately, the endless sugar just starts to make you feel nauseous after a while. All the lovey dovey goodness actually becomes annoying at some point, which is such a shame. The season just sort of ends without providing any satisfying payoff, and at the end of the day it mostly feels like I wasted my time.
There was barely anything that was truly memorable for me. The side cast did not interest me in the slightest. There was some drama, but it felt kind of shoehorned in. The animation is something else I am going to criticize because it is really not on the level that should be expected from a production this popular. Most of it feels very simplistic, which does not do this anime any favors. When you add all of these things up, you are ultimately left with a product that feels weaker than an already lackluster first season. I was particularly frustrated because the potential is there. This could have been the ultimate comforting romance anime. Instead, it ended up being borderline dull and completely uneventful. I honestly forgot most of what happened this season. A very disappointing sequel that ultimately left me frustrated. I cannot recommend this one.

There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her" already sounds like one of those anime where you know exactly what will happen just from the title, but I tried going into this one with an open mind. Truth be told, the first episode was actually rather sweet, even if it was filled with stereotypes. The isekai aspect, being an overpowered demon, and so on are all things that every anime season seems to spawn five more of, but considering I liked the first episode way more than I expected, I settled in for the long run. looking back at it, I kind of regret it.
As the show went on, every episode became less and less special until it was just an empty husk of your average isekai with a romance twist. While our main character Youki confesses in the first episode, there are a lot of nonsensical and random side quests in between. At the start, it makes total sense for our heroine Cecilia to reject Youki since she has no idea who he is, but as time goes on, it becomes rather obvious that she reciprocates those feelings. The anime could have ended after two or three episodes, but of course it all gets dragged out across the full length of thirteen episodes. None of the other ideas or concepts were interesting or intriguing in any way, even though there are small bits of cute romantic development scattered throughout. In fact, there is a secondary couple that has much better development and ends up getting together rather quickly. But of course, our actual protagonists are awkward and cannot communicate their feelings, which causes the romance to stay stuck in the same place for most of the show.
Now, I will be the first to admit that I did not see the events of the last episode coming. It was actually surprisingly adorable. I was not expecting a dual confession. But the problem is that it just does not feel earned. There was not enough development in the episodes before to make it feel natural. It actually feels rushed, like the last episode just wanted to end things with a bang rather than build a progression that makes sense. All of this is eventually capped off with an extremely awkward hug, which does feel in character but ends up being unsatisfying and lackluster. The confessions also lacked weight, and I feel like the characters could have said so much more.
None of the characters were memorable, and the art style was very simple. The music was average at best, and the only thing I can really praise is the voice acting performance by Kana Hanazawa for Cecilia, which was fantastic as usual. You know how people always say "Never judge a book by its cover?" I usually believe that, but sometimes you really can tell exactly what an anime will be like just from the title and cover alone. This anime ended up going exactly how I thought it would, and I was left disappointed. There are some decent moments hidden in between, but I feel like it's not enough to redeem the rest. I cannot fully recommend watching it unless you are specifically looking for a stereotypical isekai with a romance twist that plays out exactly how you would expect.

The first season of the My Hero Academia spin off "Vigilantes" took me completely by surprise and ended up being much better than I anticipated. Now the last season of the main series "My Hero Academia" ended not too long ago leaving a hole on the anime market which the second season of Vigilantes could fill. Sadly, I must admit that I was a bit let down. This sequel season ended up being much slower and more uneventful. The only two good parts were the few episodes where we saw Aizawa sensei’s backstory and seeing all the heroes and All Might in action in

the final episodes. But other than that, most of the season was actually kind of boring if I am being brutally honest. It sort of lost the heart and charm it brought in the first season, and I felt like I could have skipped most of it, aside from the two examples I mentioned.
Koichi and Pop Step played a weirdly secondary role in this season, even though this is supposed to be their show, which was honestly baffling. Yes, it felt nice to play detectives with Aizawa and see heroes like Midnight and All Might, but this is not their show. They should only play a small role, if at all, which this season did not get right. Sidelining the stars of your spin off for major characters from the main series is never a good idea and undermines the entire reason for the spin off to exist in the first place. This is not an All Might or Eraser Head spin off. It is a show about "The Crawler" and "Pop Step." And sometimes I had to remind myself of that.
The action was pretty lackluster aside from the last two episodes, and I found myself zoning out while watching. A lot of time is focused on various concerts and other entertainment events, which objectively speaking did not make for the most exciting experience. It feels like Vigilantes lost its identity a bit, which is a shame in my opinion. Because now that the main series has ended, the potential for the spin off is endless. Yet this season ends with what can only be described as a sad whimper. The relationship between our two protagonists did not advance at all, even after a two year time jump. While I am aware that this is not a romance, there were seeds planted in the first season for that relationship to develop, but it does not happen here. It just stagnates and keeps the same status quo, which is a missed opportunity in my opinion. Speaking of time jumps, we do not even see the main antagonist being defeated since he just disappears, only to be teased again in the after credit scene. And if you consider that a lot of airtime was spent on just him, it feels odd to not see a conclusion to his arc in this season. That opens the door for a future season, but at this point, I think they should wrap up the story soon. It is starting to lose its charm, and it would be a shame to let it fall into irrelevancy.
In total, I cannot fully recommend this season of Vigilantes, as it has more negatives than positives. Most fans of My Hero Academia will probably still enjoy it, but do not expect something on the level of the main series. There are some fun episodes with cameos from beloved characters, but as much as I love them, they tend to overstay their welcome. It is pretty good, but not on the same level as the first season. Which is pretty sad, because the potential is definitely there. This sequel just fails to follow up on it for the most part.

I should preface my review by admitting that I am one hundred percent the wrong target audience. And if you liked this, I am happy for you. But, objectively speaking, I absolutely hated every single second of watching "Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You." Truth be told, I am sort of baffled that this even got a second season in the first place when the first installment was already kind of bad in my opinion. second chance. I thought it could not sink lower than the first season. It turns out that I was very wrong.
The timeline is all over the place. The plot keeps jumping between past and present without warning. This makes it almost impossible to concentrate on what is going on. Everything is so wishy washy and ambiguous on purpose to make it feel mysterious, but it just ends up being hard to follow and confusing. There is incredibly ridiculous drama that got an eye roll out of me at best. Most of the time, the drama feels shoehorned in because the plot of the anime cannot carry the story on its own. Oh no, someone fell down the stairs. Are they going to be fine? Yup. The next episode shows that almost nothing happened. One hospital visit later and the characters in question are in top condition. The choices the characters make are, quite frankly, baffling and incredibly frustrating. You mean to tell me Kizuki ghosted his loving girlfriend and disappeared from her life for two years because he was injured? And he cannot be there for his girlfriend because he cannot swim? I am trying to make it make sense, but I just cannot. It genuinely made me mad because nobody in their right mind would do this.
The anime then makes a whole thing about who is going to end up winning our main heroine’s heart, only for her to turn around and make the most nonsensical choice ever. For the sake of spoilers, I am not going to say what exactly, but if you have seen it, you will know what I mean. It is the most obvious choice ever. There are no consequences for anything, and you can probably guess what I mean by that. What was the point of this entire second season if the endgame was going to be the same? It is all so frustrating. All the drama, all the twists, just did not matter. The interactions between our main character and her love interests are cheesy as hell, which is not inherently a bad thing, and I do think it can work, particularly in romances. But here? With me being completely checked out, it just annoyed me. I disliked every single character. Mizuho, the main character, has no real character traits. I could not even explain who she is or what she does. In this season, all she is is the sad girl pining for Kizuki to return to her life. She just goes along with whatever the other guys want from her. She is not assertive and does not have any real opinions. And in the end, she needs a push from one of the rejected guys to make her final choice which was obvious to anyone watching.
Now, I do not want to step on anyone’s toes here, but objectively speaking, the anime also does not look good. The animation is incredibly simplistic, and almost all of the background characters are just silhouettes filled with white dots, which feels lifeless. There is no passion or heart in this project. It all feels empty, and it absolutely sucked the joy out of me. On top of that, the anime uses a super bright filter that makes everything even worse to look at. I also did not like the character designs or anything of that sort. It felt like a slog to get through this mess, and I regret trying to give it a second chance. I did not want to go any lower with my rating out of respect for the effort involved, but "Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You" is honestly among the worst anime I have ever seen. And I would not recommend it whatsoever.

Every anime season features the resident trashy rom com, and in Winter 2026, "You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!" rose to the challenge. This anime has just about every stereotype you can think of. Even the four main love interests for our MC are all character archetypes you have seen hundreds of times at this point. And the anime takes them at face value without even trying to break free from those stereotypes. To be fair, that can absolutely work sometimes, but that's not even what makes watching this anime so frustrating.

as dense as you can get, which is also a classic rom com trait, but he truly takes the cake. It's painfully obvious that his childhood friends have a crush on him, yet he constantly deludes himself by saying there's no way he would be in a rom com with his childhood friends. And yes, that's both a meta joke and the whole point of the show, but my god is it frustrating to watch. It's one of those anime that could have concluded after three episodes by going the harem route or choosing one of them, but of course "Eiyu," our main character, does none of this. Instead, the show keeps the story going by having a phone ring just when things start going somewhere. Or someone bursts in at just the wrong moment. Anything to stop real character development and the plot from advancing.
Eventually we end up with four different love interests, all of them his childhood friends, and our main character keeps deluding himself into oblivion. And without spoiling too much, the anime ends with the same status quo, as nothing really happens. They all clearly like him, but he responds by saying that he treasures them all as childhood friends. And then the season concludes without answering anything. There are plenty of ecchi scenes as well, and you can expect every scenario your usual run of the mill rom com would have. The summer festival episode with fireworks, the school sports event with the scavenger hunt, and so on.
In conclusion, it was certainly not a bad anime by any means, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of works out there just like this. If you have seen one, you have seen all of them. I liked the opening, and some episodes had solid romantic moments, but they obviously lead to nothing. There are even kisses on the mouth that lead to absolutely nothing, which genuinely puzzled me. How can even a kiss lead to no progression in romance? All in all, a very frustrating experience from start to finish that has some redeeming moments but ends up painfully average. I would not really recommend watching this, as there are so many better shows out there. But if you're looking for a rom com that is as stereotypical as it gets and leans into the harem direction with a generous amount of fanservice, this might be for you.

I think everything that needed to be said about this season has already been said, but I still feel like I need to add my voice. This season ranks among the biggest and worst disasters of a beloved anime franchise. Whoever greenlit this to be released in the state it was should honestly be ashamed. One Punch Man season 3 is not even a half baked product, it feels more like a rough draft college project that somehow got marketed as the full thing. And I really wish I was exaggerating, but I genuinely am not.

where even no name isekai harems look better, but the show insists on using ugly neon filters all the time whenever a character gets a close up. There is no movement, everything feels flat and boring, and about 90 percent of the show consists of lifeless PNGs being panned around. This alone would completely ruin an action heavy anime that relies so heavily on its larger than life fight scenes like One Punch Man, but sadly this is not where the problems end. The pacing is abysmal and every episode feels uneventful and, quite frankly, boring. The comedy does not work this season and comes across as unfunny. Saitama, the literal main character of the show, is present in maybe three or four episodes. For most of the season he does not matter at all and is reduced to a minor comedic relief character. The music also starts playing at the most random times, and the same OST is repeated over and over, sometimes up to what feels like twenty times per episode, which feels incredibly jarring.
I could probably go on for hours about the issues, but that is the general gist of it. I usually try to be as objective and neutral as possible in my reviews, but there is genuinely nothing to praise this season for. Maybe the fact that some characters look nice in a few isolated shots, but that is about it. Everything else is a complete mess from start to finish.
I am generally of the opinion that barely any anime deserve a rating lower than five out of respect for the artists and effort involved, but there is nothing to respect here. I would not blame anyone for rating it even lower. That is just how shockingly bad this season was. It is easily among the worst anime seasons I have ever seen and painfully disappointing. I still hope that voicing our frustration as a community is heard by someone, anyone really, and that it leads to something. Maybe it will at least make the second part of the season remotely better. Who knows.

Wasted Potential the anime. That’s the title I would give to Towa no Yuugure. Episode 0 and the first two episodes were so interesting, they hooked me instantly. The setup was perfect for this gritty story set in a post apocalyptic world. The art style was pretty and vibrant, and it had all the tools to build into a real gem of an anime. Where did it all go so wrong?
As soon as the story gets underway, the characters go on the most random, plot hole filled side quests that make absolutely no sense and lead to nothing. Some of them are actually rather strange,

as they thematize incest and polygamy. Speaking of polygamy, this is a very heavily recurring theme in the show. This new world has something called “Ehlsea,” which basically means you can get married to as many people as you want. Rather than being just a small gimmick, it ends up becoming a core topic that feels extremely shoehorned in. Almost like whoever wrote this was trying to show polygamy in a good light or outright advertise it. I think you’ll understand what I mean if you’ve seen the show.
These endless side quests cause the main plot to be completely lost, and eventually the anime seems to remember that it somehow has to conclude. There are some interesting twists, particularly the one involving the main character Akira, but other than that it ended up exactly how I expected. The conclusion is all over the place and has no idea what it wants to be. While two thirds of the main group, Akira and Yugure, ended up with a rather decent character arc, the third, Amoru, gets completely snubbed of a satisfying arc and instead ends up with this odd, jealousy filled yandere direction. I don’t know, I was pretty confused by everything in this show. The ending was deflating to say the least and strangely ambiguous, though I appreciated all characters being shown one last time.
I am immensely disappointed with how it all turned out, especially because I really loved the setup and episode 0. Instead, it ended up being a messy original that is forgettable and frustrating to watch. It’s really sad to see a show fail to follow up on such a strong start and sink down to the bottom of relevancy. Such wasted potential.

"Yano-kun no Futsuu no Hibi" ended up being a very mixed bag of an anime. While it appears to be your usual run of the mill rom com, it does have a quirky touch that helps it stand out. Yano-kun is an extremely unlucky guy who gets hurt multiple times every single day, which catches the attention of his classmate Yoshida. She makes it her mission to treat his injuries and so a relationship starts to blossom. We see them get closer as friends, which eventually leads to romantic feelings developing between them.

be integrated into Yoshidas friend circle, as he tends to be scared to involve himself with people due to his tendency to get hurt. The relationship keeps building until there is an awkward, unexpected dual confession, which took me completely by surprise. Unlike you would think, this does not mean they are dating now since the entire situation ends up stagnating and becomes ambiguous. They are clearly more than just friends but they fuss about the details, get flushed about any kind of displays of affection or worse physical touch, which tends to get a bit frustrating to watch. Even more frustrating is the fact that the story just sort of ends without a conclusive or satisfying ending to it.
The entire season builds on the fact that Yano does not actually need the eyepatch he is wearing because he has two differently colored eyes, which he is insecure about. Eventually, Yoshida gets to see what is underneath, but the viewer does not which left me kind of puzzled and majorly disappointed. There's no kiss, no major development in their relationship and all around a loss of direction after the confession. The anime ends up leaning a lot into the slice of life direction, which is not necessarily a bad thing but it also prevents the story from feeling exciting or impactful, as very little of consequence ends up happening.
The music was okay, the voice acting was solid and the art style is something to particularly praise. This anime was produced by the same studio that made “A Sign of Affection”, and Aija-do has a very distinct and recognizable visual style. The character designs are vivid and imaginative, which gives the show another unique charm. The side character were a fun bunch, which also added some things to like.
In conclusion, this was a good anime, but it fails to be anything more than that. There is simply too much left unresolved and unsaid, and the lack of a clear conclusion makes it difficult to rate it any higher. If anything, it felt like a bridge towards a potential second season but as a standalone experience, it feels underwhelming. "Yano-kun no Futsuu no Hibi" has it's cute moments, with fun and quirky characters but lacks it lacks real depth. Definitely a fun watch, but won't be the most riveting thing you have ever seen.

Well. This one’s special. “The Dangers in My Heart” walks in wearing the mask of a simple rom com with a weird twist and then quietly turns into something far more intimate and affecting than expected. The early stretch is rough around the edges on purpose. Kyoutarou starts in a weird, edgy headspace that is uncomfortable to watch, and for two or three episodes I wondered what exactly I had signed up for. Then the switch flips. The show uses that awkward beginning in the first season as a bridge into a genuinely moving story and suddenly I was watching a boy crawl out of

his own darkness.
Once it settles, the slow burn is phenomenal. Every glance, every half sentence, every hesitation lands. The chemistry between Kyoutarou and Yamada is the engine and heart of the series. Yamada lights up scenes without ever feeling forced. Kyoutarou grows into someone you root for, not because the story tells you to, but because you feel it. When the romance starts to bloom, it hits like a truck. I caught myself whispering just kiss already more times than I care to admit.
The show moves past its initial gag and becomes careful, coherent, and quietly sharp. Character work is the star. The leads evolve in ways that feel earned, and the supporting cast is surprisingly fun each with enough things to make them memorable. As the story goes, the emotions deepen, and the series finds a rhythm that balances cute, awkward, and loveable without tripping over itself.
What really elevates this show is its message of redemption. This isn’t just about romance. It’s about self-discovery, about learning to see another person for who they truly are, and finding the strength to become better because of them. Once the story kicks in, you start to see Kyoutarou evolve into this genuinely loveable, awkward, kind guy who’s just figuring himself out. There is so much love and care in this Anime which is so palpable while watching. The animation is beautiful, the soundtrack enhances it and the story is written to near perfection.
One of the most beautiful seasons of romance I have seen. Breathtaking when it matters, tender in the right places, and written with more care than its first impression suggests. Give it the chance to click. When it does, it does so hard.
